Nature, Objectives and Strategies<br />
The members present their report and the audited financial statements for the year ended<br />
<strong>31</strong> <strong>July</strong> <strong>2008</strong>.<br />
Legal Status<br />
The Board of Management was established under the Further and Higher Education<br />
(Scotland) Act 1992 for the purposes of managing and conducting <strong>Perth</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<br />
The <strong>College</strong> is registered as a charity with the Inland Revenue (Registered Charity Number<br />
- SC021209) and is not liable <strong>to</strong> corporation tax.<br />
Our Vision for the Future<br />
In June 2007, the Board of Management adopted a 10 year strategy and vision for <strong>Perth</strong><br />
<strong>College</strong>. Our vision is as follows:<br />
• We will be internationally recognised and known for our ambition and<br />
achievements.<br />
• We will be acknowledged for our inspirational staff and our highly successful<br />
learners, who move on <strong>to</strong> become associated with the best organisations.<br />
• We will teach at all levels and across the widest range of learners.<br />
• We will support our teaching by carrying out international quality research in<br />
specialist subject areas.<br />
• Our staff will be leaders in innovative learning, expertly using new technology <strong>to</strong><br />
develop the workforce of the future.<br />
• We will create pride in our environment, and prepare for, anticipate and exceed the<br />
needs of all our learners.<br />
Implementation of Strategic Plan<br />
In June 2007 the <strong>College</strong> adopted its strategic plan for the period of 10 years, 2007-2016.<br />
This plan is built on 5 underlying strategies:<br />
• Curriculum;<br />
• Communications and Business Development;<br />
• Human Resources and Organisational Development;<br />
• Resources;<br />
• <strong>Financial</strong> and Management Information.<br />
Each underlying strategy articulates several aims with specific, aspirational targets <strong>to</strong> be<br />
achieved by <strong>July</strong> 2010.<br />
1
