Section 1 

Introduction 

The SCT software changes and problem resolutions described in this release guide 

are delivered with the 7.0 release of Banner Intcomp. 

Banner Intcomp comprises the Banner product components that support data 

synchronization and messaging with third-party components. Specifically, it 

includes the Banner components that support SCT LDI for e-Learning, which 

includes integration between SCT Banner, SCT Luminis, WebCT, Blackboard, and 

Nuventive TracDat and iWebfolio. 

For more information, refer to LDI for e-Learning Banner Implementation Guide, 

Volumes I and II. 

Summary of Changes in This Release 

This release features: 

• Dependency hardware and software minimum requirements for this release. 

• Extract Login enhancement 

• Features retained from Release 6.1. 

• A description of deletion scripts that remove older events for those upgrading 

to this release of Banner Intcomp. 

• Resolutions for problems found in Banner Intcomp 6.1.1 

Dependencies for Implementing the Banner Intcomp 7.0 

For additional Banner Intcomp release requirements for previous versions, refer to 

“Integration Solution Interdependencies,” a document available from the SCT 

ActionWeb, Documentation Download link in the Luminis - LDI for e-Learning 

product under “Other Documents”. 

The following optional Banner products are supported by Banner Intcomp Release 

7.0:

Note: If these are installed, they must be at the version noted or higher. 

If any of the optional products listed in the “Integration Solution 

Interdependencies” document is installed at your institution and is at the required 

version, the Banner Intcomp 7.0 installation procedure automatically installs the 

necessary Intcomp components (such as database triggers and functions) for that 

product; otherwise those components are automatically excluded from the install. 

Upgrading to LDI 

To install Banner Intcomp 7.0, you must fully subscribe to implementing only LDI 

events at your institution. 

Please note that pre-LDI events and extracts, with the exception of those detailed in 

“Features Retained from Banner Intcomp 6.1” on page 7, will be made obsolete as 

of this release.

The following are features from Banner Intcomp 6.1 that will remain in this 7.0 

release: 

• All LDI events as well as Smart and Notify Events that worked through SCT 

Luminis CORBA processing. 

• LDI extract (ICGORLDI) 

• Group Maker extract (ICGORGMK) 

• Grade Exchange processing 

• LDI On Demand Synchronization extract (ICGORODM).

Person Logon ID (RPE #42042) 

Another filter has been added to the ICGORLDI extract process restricting the 

extracted data to only those persons who have a logon ID. 

The “Extract Persons with Logon ID only” parameter has been added so that you can 

eliminate records of persons without a logon ID on your extract report. This feature 

reduces irrelevant records from the extract. 

The value Y (the default) selection extracts only persons with Logon IDs in your 

report. This 1-character parameter is required. 

There is a corresponding filter on the LDIPERSON event.

This section describes scripts that are available for running when you upgrade to 

Banner Intcomp 7.0. 

SECTMODE Deletions (icdelgtvsdax.sql) 

The icdelgtvsdax.sql script deletes the SECTMODE setting, which is no longer 

used in the LDI extract or events, from GTVSDAX. It runs automatically through 

your installation of the release. This script will not be migrated to Intcomp directory 

for future use. 

Pre-LDI Events Deletions (icdelevents.sql) 

The icdelevents.sql script removes all pre-LDI events from the event queue 

except Smart and Notify events. It also deletes all pre-LDI event definitions except 

those for Smart and Notify events. 

This optional script is not run as part of the 7.0 upgrade. It is an optional script that 

you must run manually. It is for purging purposes only as you move to the upgraded 

software. 

When deleting records from the event queue, the script deletes 1000 records 

between commits. This processing prevents exhausting rollback segments, since you 

may have tens or hundreds of thousands of event queue records accumulated. 

Troubleshooting (iccheck.sql) 

Run the iccheck.sql script manually to troubleshoot processing conditions known 

to cause improper behavior of events and extracts. Run iccheck.sql before you 

call the SCT ActionLine. ActionLine can use the script results to ensure quicker 

troubleshooting resolutions. Refer to “Appendix B” of the LDI for e-Learning Banner 

Implementation Guide, Volume II for detailed instructions on using this script.

The following problem resolutions are delivered with this LDI for e-Learning - 

Banner Intcomp 7.0. 

Aborted job

(#97441) 

Extract jobs were aborting instead of issuing a To Be Announced (TBA) status when 

building code or room data were missing. These data were being selected together. 

The solution was to change the processing to select the building and room codes 

separately. 

(#97590) 

Wrong status information, such as including wait listed student enrollment section 

objects was being passed to the enrollment status tag. The correct procedure 

(ICSFKCOM.F_GET_ENROLLMENT) was being called but then hard coding the status 

to 1. The status is now obtained directly from the ENR_STATUS variable that gets its 

value from ENROLLMENT_RECICSFKCOM.

The S value option in the Course parameter did not extract courses in ICGORLDI. 

The validate VALIDATE_SELECTED_COURSES cursor has been modified to produce 

the expected course results. The S value option now extracts course information for 

a specific instructional method/schedule code. The new processing disregards any 

term input for courses but extracts courses that fall within the minimum and 

maximum term range in SOBTERM when SOBTERM_PROFILE_SEND_IND is set to Y.

Redundant logic that inserted an additional Person event was removed from an 

insert trigger script. 

(#97626) 

A call to the icgokcom.f_xml_filter function was inserted into the program so 

that the XML special characters such as the ampersand are properly translated. 

Special character no longer causes an XML error. 

Deleted scripts (#97764) 

INTCOMP 6.1 upgrade scripts icsdax60100.sql and icvsdax60100.sql added 

two new CREATEPIN values on GTVSDAX and GUAPPRF for tables SRBRECR and 

SARADAP. The added seed data implied that corresponding functionality was 

implemented when it is not. 

A script was created to remove inappropriate seed data from GUAPPRF and 

GTVSDAX records.

Meeting Times 

(#98125) 

Intcomp LDI debug code found in dbms_output statements from the 

icgokro1.sql and icspkge1.sql package scripts were causing buffer overflow. 

Such command statements were removed from all Intcomp LDI code. 

(98201) 

The extract program ICGORLDI was not able to process the extraction of meeting 

times exceeding 20 per course section. The maximum size (MAX_SIZE) has been 

increased from 20 to 40. This change enables successful extraction processing when 

meeting times exceed 20.
