5.00 D E P O S I T S<br />

DEPOSITS TO SECURE THE<br />

PAYMENT OF BILLS AND CHARGES<br />

5.01 Any customer whose account has become delinquent for a period of ten (10) days may be<br />

required to make a deposit with the <strong>Authority</strong> in the amount hereinafter prescribed as<br />

security for the payment of water bills.<br />

5.02 Any customer whose service of water has been discontinued by the <strong>Authority</strong> for nonpayment<br />

of a bill or charge for water or any other service or facility rendered by the<br />

<strong>Authority</strong> will be required to make a deposit with the <strong>Authority</strong> in the amount hereinafter<br />

set forth and in addition thereto, to pay all bills and charges in arrears together with a<br />

charge for restoration of service.<br />

5.03 As security for payment of bills, the <strong>Authority</strong> may require of any applicant a deposit in<br />

the amount hereinafter described, payable at the time of application for service.<br />

5.04 The deposit provided for in paragraphs 5.01, 5.02 and 5.03 shall be the average bill as<br />

estimated by the <strong>Authority</strong> for one billing cycle for the applicable billing period and<br />

meter size. When service is discontinued and final bills paid, or when the customer has<br />

established satisfactory credit in the judgment of the <strong>Authority</strong>, the deposit will be<br />

refunded without interest to the customer.<br />

DEPOSITS FOR TEMPORARY SERVICE OF<br />

WATER AND THE SETTING OF A METER<br />

5.05 A payment, as security for the return of the meter and backflow preventer, in the amount<br />

described in paragraph 14.06(B) will be collected for the temporary service of water and<br />

the setting of a meter therefore, such as, but not limited to, construction jobs, fairs,<br />

circuses, military installations, emergency inter-system connections, and for the service of<br />

water to the premises or property upon which no permanent structure is or has been<br />

erected.<br />

The amount of the deposit hereinabove provided for will be refunded by the <strong>Authority</strong><br />

without interest when the meter and backflow preventer is returned and provided that the<br />

same is found to be in proper condition for re-use after inspection and test. Any cost of<br />

repairs found to be necessary will be deducted from the deposit made at the time the<br />

meter and backflow preventer was originally issued or set. An administrative fee in the<br />

amount described in paragraph 14.02 will be retained by the <strong>Authority</strong> to cover<br />

administrative costs.<br />
