CDM Offers Fellowship and International<br />
Program in Advanced Implantology<br />

CDM's Section <strong>of</strong> Oral and Diagnostic Sciences has introduced<br />
two new postgraduate programs in Advanced Implant Dentistry,<br />
a two-year, part-time Fellowship Program for US dentists, and a<br />
two-year full-time International Program for dental pr<strong>of</strong>essionals<br />
from abroad. The Fellowship Program, directed by Associate<br />
Clinical Pr<strong>of</strong>essor John Cavallaro, requires participants to be<br />
educationally qualified specialists in endodontics, periodontics or<br />
prosthodontics. The International Program is designed for dentists<br />
who are graduates <strong>of</strong> accredited international dental institutions<br />
and have demonstrated the highest level <strong>of</strong> knowledge and skill<br />
related to the placement and restoration <strong>of</strong> dental implants.<br />
A Certificate <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Achievement is issued on completion<br />
<strong>of</strong> the programs.<br />
Formed under the leadership <strong>of</strong> Dennis P. Tarnow, DDS, Director<br />
<strong>of</strong> Implant Education at the <strong>College</strong>, each program is designed<br />
to provide dentists with the highest level <strong>of</strong> knowledge and<br />
skill related to the placement and restoration <strong>of</strong> dental implants.<br />
The curriculum is based on the biologic and clinical principles<br />
that are the basis <strong>of</strong> the discipline. Practitioners are trained<br />
through basic and advanced didactic lectures, seminars, and<br />
literature review sessions.<br />
In September, Dr. Daewon Haam was appointed as assistant<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essor in the Division <strong>of</strong> Prosthodontics and Director <strong>of</strong> the<br />
International Program. Dr. Haam, who received his DDS from<br />
Yonsei <strong>University</strong>, Seoul, Korea in 1994, earned an MS in Orthodontics<br />
from the Catholic <strong>University</strong> Graduate School <strong>of</strong> Clinical<br />
<strong>Dental</strong> Science, Seoul, in 2004. He completed a one-year fellowship<br />
in periodontology and implantology at NYU in 2008, and<br />
received his MS degree in prosthodontics from <strong>Columbia</strong> in 2011.<br />
