Graduation <strong>2012</strong><br />
On May 17, the class <strong>of</strong> <strong>2012</strong> received their diplomas from Dean Ira Lamster<br />
during a ceremony held at the New Balance Track and Field Center. Guest<br />
speaker Robert Renner ’68, Prosth ’71, founder <strong>of</strong> Kids International <strong>Dental</strong><br />
Service (KIDS), spoke <strong>of</strong> the joy he finds in treating and teaching<br />
underprivileged children all over the world. The Edward Zegarelli Teaching<br />
Award was presented to Dr. Candice Zemnick, Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor in the Division<br />
<strong>of</strong> Prosthodontics.<br />

Class Day<br />

Class Day was held on May 16th to celebrate the achievements <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Class <strong>of</strong> <strong>2012</strong>. Student Government President Jacob Mann addressed his<br />
"amazing, focused, dynamic...and fun" classmates, and congratulated<br />
them on having "won awards...matched at top residencies...and for winning<br />
the fall BBQ s<strong>of</strong>tball trophy four years in a row!" After presentations<br />
<strong>of</strong> many honors and prizes, faculty speaker Dr. Mark Tenner ’62, gave a<br />
warm salutation to the prize winners and their fellow graduates with advice<br />
based on the flying formation <strong>of</strong> geese and the protection it provides for<br />
each <strong>of</strong> them, saying, "Stay close to your school; it's your flock!"<br />
Postdoctoral Graduation<br />
On June <strong>13</strong> sixty-three students recieved certificates and master's<br />
degrees from one <strong>of</strong> the nine postdoctoral and residency programs<br />
<strong>of</strong>fered by CDM. The keynote address was given by Dr. Henry<br />
Ginsberg, Director <strong>of</strong> the Irving Institute for Clinical & Translational<br />
Research, and the Allan Formicola Teaching Award was presented<br />
to Mary Beth Giacona, Assistant Clinical Pr<strong>of</strong>essor in the Division <strong>of</strong><br />
Pediatric Dentistry<br />
