Groundbreaking Implant Symposium<br />

Held in Venice, Italy<br />

Last May, Dr. Dennis Tarnow led an<br />

international group <strong>of</strong> speakers in a<br />

two-day continuing education symposium,<br />

“A New Era <strong>of</strong> Knowledge and<br />

Technology in Implant Dentistry,”<br />

held in Venice, Italy. Attended by 200<br />

dental practitioners from 27 countries,<br />

who presented a uniquely global perspective<br />

<strong>of</strong> knowledge and ideas, the<br />

program was organized by Tarnow<br />

Alumni Executive Committee members<br />

Elizabeth Moreno ’89, Dr. Sergio Buda,<br />

and Dr. Donal Blackwell. It was generously<br />

supported by Biomet 3i, the<br />

meeting's Platinum sponsor.<br />

During the event, which featured renowned<br />

lecturer Dr. Henry Salama as<br />

keynote speaker, Dr. Tarnow conducted<br />

an interactive literature review, and<br />

CDM faculty, members including<br />

Dean Ira Lamster, Senior Associate Dean<br />

Jeremy Mao, Associate Clinical Pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />

Stephen Chu, Clinical Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Gary<br />

Greenstein, Implant Fellowship Program<br />

Director John Cavallaro, and Associate<br />

Clinical Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Richard Smith participated<br />

as speakers. Several <strong>of</strong> Dr. Tarnow's<br />

former students from Korea, Spain,<br />

Japan and Italy shared their clinical<br />

expertise, and three distinguished moderators,<br />

including CDM Clinical Pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />

Robert Eskow, conducted stimulating<br />

Q&A sessions. Additional conference<br />

support was provided by Keystone <strong>Dental</strong><br />

and Zimmer <strong>Dental</strong>.<br />
