2008 Placement Report
I am pleased to present the 2008 Eller MBA Placement Report.
This report presents compensation information for the graduating
class and will give you a sense of the industries, geographies, and
functions in which our recent graduates have been employed. We are
excited to report an average annual salary increase of $2,373 for the
class of 2008. This placement statistic reflects a 3.2% increase over
2007. Given the extremely challenging economic conditions, we feel
this is reflective of the quality of our students and the hard work of
the Office of Career Development.
At Eller MBA, we fully embrace the process of career development.
From the onset, first year MBA students participate in career and
professional development activities in conjunction with their Business
Communication course and through OCD offerings. The individual
career counseling that we offer encourages students to evaluate their
skills, experiences, and interests and identify functional areas and
industries of interest, all of which will ultimately lead to the pursuit
of target internship opportunities. These activities continue during
the second year and position students to secure employment
opportunities that leverage their skills and experiences and match
their career interests.
The customized services that our team and the overall MBA program
provide enable students to select classes and employment
opportunities that will lead to success as they define it. We believe
that our individual and focused approach to career and professional
development, combined with the curricular experience, position
our students to make an impact, deliver value, and lead in their
respective organizations.
We are extremely appreciative of our corporate partners, recruiters,
Eller College administration, alumni, faculty, and external stakeholders
for their support and for partnering with us in the recruiting process.
We look forward to a continued strong relationship in the years ahead.
Hiring Eller MBAs
The Office of Career Development (OCD) facilitates both the
internship and full-time recruiting processes. Our team works
directly with recruiters to obtain employment opportunities and
communicate them to our students. We also organize interview
schedules and associated logistics and details if so desired.
On Campus Recruiting
We host companies that would like to schedule campus
interviews for full-time and internship recruiting and make
our interview rooms and related services available during the
recruiting visit. The interview scheduling and logistics are
coordinated based on the information provided by the
company on our Recruiting Information Form located at
www.ellermba.arizona.edu/recruit/forms/recruit.aspx
The full-time recruiting season begins in the fall and our
second-year MBA students are not expected to begin working
with the hiring organization until after their May graduation.
The internship recruiting season also begins in the fall and our
first-year MBA students may begin working with the hiring
organization at the end of spring semester (mid May).
Company Presentations
Company presentations are a great forum for companies to
showcase their company and career opportunities, as well as
meet potential candidates for full-time or internship positions.
We can accommodate requests to conduct a presentation and
provide assistance in communicating this event to our
students. These are typically done in the early evening.
Additional Event Forums
Companies that participate in on-campus recruiting may also
invite students to participate in a “meet and greet” lunch,
dinner and/or a reception that precedes the interview date.
These events, like the company presentations, are opportunities
for students to learn more about the company and interact
directly with recruiters and hiring managers in an environment
conducive to longer conversations. The company
representatives may coordinate these events and students are
contacted directly by a representative, or OCD is involved in
the coordination and students are notified by OCD on behalf
of the organization.
Resume Collections and Referrals
We can facilitate your interview process by collecting resumes
of interested candidates and then referring those resumes that
meet your pre-described requirements. To initiate this process,
the company submits a job description and pertinent requirements
relevant for the pre-selection process. We then forward
resumes that have met those requirements for the recruiters’
review and consideration. Companies may consider holding
campus interviews or make other interview arrangements
directly with the selected candidates.
