Dear Mr. Dracopoulos,
To you, the Board of Directors and all the forces at the Stavros Niarchos
Foundation, we express our warmest congratulations for this monumental
decision to distribute 130 million dollars to those in need of our brethren in
Greece.
Regardless of the fact that the Foundation has the resources to offer such a large
amount, it is the initiative for this action that collects the admiration and respect of
the entire Greek American Community as it confirms the sensitivity and concern
of the Foundation for the vulnerable and needy. lt also indicates the visionary
character of the Foundation, taking into account the future generations needs by
investing in their education and training.
Since our foundation is also a beneficiary of your support, offered to our
scholarship recipients, please allow us to feel proud for being associated with the
Stavros Niarchos Foundation and celebrate with you the memory and the vision
of its founder.
Sincerely,
Dear Mr. Dracopoulos:
I have always considered the mission and works of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation as
inspiring, substantive and lifealtering for their beneficiaries.
It is not only the wide range and diversity of financial grants that make SNF’s work
unique; it is also its far sightedness, its longterm vision and its determination to make
a lasting impact by monitoring projects and holding recipients accountable to a higher
standard, something particularly needed in Greece.
Your recent pledge of $130 million to help ease the adverse effects of the crisis in
Greece truly raises the bar, inspiring others to put aside their own selfmotivated
considerations and rise to the occasion.
At this critical time of dire need for Greece, this grant provides substantive support to
those most affected by the crisis, assisting them with the fundamentals of daily life,
while at the same time it creates options for young people by investing in their future.
This gesture is also testament to your own commitment and dedication to Greece.
Furthermore, it urges our fellow citizens to consider those less fortunate than us, while
at the same time it is a vote of confidence in the Greek people, an indication of trust in
their capabilities and motives.
As Greece’s Ambassador to the United States, I congratulate and thank you and your
fellow board members for this generous contribution, among many others. I am
confident that it will lead others to follow your example and truly believe that it will
inspire recipients to live up to your expectations.
With my best regards,
Sincerely yours,
Vassilis Kaskarelis
Ambassador
