I am privileged to be the Head of such an outstanding school and to work with
such wonderful students and staff. The Chase‟s record is exceptional indeed:
Department for Education approval to convert to Academy Status as a
successful school in 2011.
a steadily improving GCSE record, producing in Summer 2012 the school‟s
second best-ever results in which 34.5% of all GCSE grades were at A*
or A, one of the best results in the County;
International School Award given in Summer 2011 by The British Council
for fostering the international dimension throughout the curriculum;
a fifth, consecutive, highly-successful Inspection in November 2011,
despite the raising of OFSTED standards since the previous inspection in 2009;
a third extension of the school‟s First Specialism, in Technology, in Summer
2009, in recognition of the continuing and improving quality of its Maths, Science, Information Technology
and Design Technology programmes;
the award of a Second Specialism, in Languages, in April 2006, following an invitation to apply from DfE
(Department for Children, Schools, and Families) resulting from the school‟s longstanding record of
success;
the award of a Third Specialism, in Science, in April 2008, following a similar invitation from DfE;
a third Sportsmark Gold Award gained in Spring 2006 in recognition of the school‟s excellent
programme of PE and Sport, followed by the award of the revised Sportsmark in 2007 and 2008;
a fourth Artsmark Gold Award gained in Summer 2012 for the continued quality of the school‟s Arts
provision: Art and Design, Dance, Drama, Music, musical and dramatic productions, poetry, creative
writing and public speaking;
Leading Aspect Awards for „Creativity Across the Curriculum‟ (2004), „Outdoor Learning‟ (2008) and
Modern Languages (2009);
A Level results which annually place The Chase amongst the best schools in the country, state
or private.
Revalidation of the Healthy School Award in July 2010.
Eco-Schools Award in Spring 2007.
Approval of the school‟s Travel Plan in Summer 2007.
Designation by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust as a High Performing Specialist School in
2008.
The latest OFSTED Report‟s main findings (available via the Internet) confirm that: „The Chase School is a
good school with an outstanding sixth form and students are prepared exceptionally well for
their future.‟
Other features of the school noted by the most recent inspectors were:

The very strong relationship the school has with parents and carers, which is as a result of
the outstanding way in which it engages them in their children‟s learning and other aspects
of school life.
Attainment rose substantially from 2011 across most key indicators.
The progress made by the majority of groups of students is good. Those students with
special educational needs and/or disabilities make expected progress … and progress is
continuing to improve.
Strong relationships exist within the whole school community which supports students‟
good and, sometimes, exemplary behaviour. Attendance is excellent.
The students (demonstrate) outstanding spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
The outstanding way in which the school promotes community cohesion.
