PARISH MEMBERSHIP: Registration and regular use of envelopes are essential to
the proper administration of a Parish and are necessary in order to become a properly
identified member of a Parish Family.
New Parishioner Orientation will be on Wednesday May18th at 6:00 pm in Front of Social Hall
ANOINTING OF THE SICK
If you have a serious illness, are facing hospitalization and/or surgery, you should
arrange to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. You may remember “Last
Rites” but the correct name is Anointing of the Sick, which is not limited to the dying and
which should be celebrated before the sick person is unconscious, comatose or in the last
stages of death. The Anointing is offered each weekday morning upon request, during the
7:25 AM Mass. If you or your family members are unable to attend Mass, Father will
come to your home. Arrangements must be made by the prior Monday afternoon to allow
time for proper preparation.

THE SACRAMENT OF PENANCE
“The Sacrament of Penance”, is celebrated during our monthly Reconciliation Prayer Service
which is at 7:00 pm on the first Wednesday of each month.
It is imperative to be present for the entire service for the participation in the service is your penance.
The next service will be held at 7:00pm on the 1st of June
This Sacrament is also offered by appointment. Please contact the Parish Office at 676-4403
SACRIFICIAL GIVING
A normal Sacrificial Giving program is a 10%
contribution to a charitable organization or
church. St. Catherine’s program asks for 4%
of your income, 2% for our general parish
support and 1% for maintenance and repairs,
both through the use of our weekly Offertory
envelopes. Another 1% goes to our ongoing
faith formation programs through the
Diocesan Development Fund Drive (envelopes
and statements sent by the Diocese). For
example, if you make $500.00 a week, your
total contribution at 4 % would be $20.00 a
week.
Another way to give back to God a part of the
blessings He has given to each of us is to mention St.
Catherine’s in your will.

MARRIAGE PREPRATION
PROCESS
Canon Law stipulates that
weddings are to take place in the
Parish where either the bride, the
groom, or their parents reside. In
order to begin the Marriage
Preparation Process, you must pick
up A Guideline and Policy
Booklet for Weddings from our
Parish Office and read it
thoroughly. Please understand
that the marriage preparation in the
Diocese of San Bernardino takes a
minimum of 6 months and that a
wedding date may
not be set until
specified criteria
are met.

St Catherine's Annual Retreat for Women
will be held at Mater Dolorosa Retreat Center in the city of Sierra Madre on the weekend of May
20th to 22nd.
The Passionist retreat team offer inspirational talks on the theme, as well as time for quiet
prayer and Mass, Confession and Stations of the Cross. The beautifully landscaped grounds make
this a great setting for a peace- filled weekend for spiritual renewal and growth.
This Year's Theme: Come to the Well of Living Water....Our Life Of Prayer
The retreat begins Friday evening with a buffet supper and
concludes Sunday after lunch. Please phone Fran Phillips at 699-4453, our
parish retreat Captain for Information or to make your reservation. Space is

I wish to express my gratitude to all of you who worked so hard to make Life and Dignity Sunday a huge success. With nearly
30,000 people signing up for the Catholic Legislative network we have exceeded our goal by 50%.
Life and Dignity Sunday was very important, but it was not an end in itself. The purpose of Life and Dignity Sunday is to help make
advocacy on behalf of life and justice central to our faith lives. The purpose is to help us exercise the virtue of Faithful Citizenship.
The vision remains to “Impact society with the Gospel so that lives are filled with hope.”
So I am asking all of you to open the emails from the Catholic Legislative Network, which you will begin to receive soon. I call upon
you to read them and reflect on them in the light of your faith. And when called upon to do so, I ask you to respond to alerts.
And I am asking the leadership of our parishes to keep the issues of Public Policy Insights before your faithful through prayer,

The St. Vincent de Paul Society will be collecting
food and “gently used clothing” during April &
May. These items can be dropped off in the food
bin near the front doors of the church. We are
especially in need of children’s clothing. For

This MOTHER’S DAY weekend, May 7 th and 8 th , we
will be honoring our church’s wonderful mothers with
rose bouquets after all Masses/Worship Services.
The rose is recognized as the symbol of Life. What
more fitting way to acknowledge the tremendous Life-
Giving effort of our beautiful mothers than to shower
them with roses! Funds raised will be donated to our
local Pregnancy Resource Center, Birth Choice, to
help expectant mothers in need. For a donation of
$5.00, you can demonstrate your appreciation for
your mother, godmother, grandmother, wife or other
loved one and help make this a truly HAPPY
MOTHER’S DAY for moms and the children in our
community who need our help!

You may drop off completed forms to the parish
M – F 8: a.m. to 4: p.m. or you can give them to
Letha on Sunday’s. Please attach payment to the
form or Parish Pay receipt. Forms received
incomplete or missing payment Cannot be processed.
Faith Formation begins on August 21, 2011
New to our program Orientation meeting will be held
on August 7, At 9: a.m. in the Hall.
Sacrament Preparation Orientation will be held on
August 14, at 9: a.m. in the Hall. (for children in
second year (not grade) of formation.
Families must be registered in our Parish in order to
enroll children in our programs. The next two
opportunities to register in our PARISH will be held
on April 20, at 7: p.m. in our Youth Center or May
18, at 7: pm in Di Leo Hall. Please contact the parish
office for more details.
Our program begins in August, and ends in May of
2012. It is a 3 year process that brings a child to First
Eucharist. Second year is the year we prepare for
Reconciliation, and Third year is the preparation for
First Eucharist.
(Year not Grade. Kindergarten does not count as a
year.)
Faith Formation and most all the Sacrament
Preparation is held on Sunday’s. We begin a half
hour before Our morning masses. 7:30, 9:30 &
11:30. We gather in our Hall for Liturgy of the Word
for Children, We dismiss to our grade level
classrooms for formation. We bring the children
To the Church to join their families for the Liturgy of
the Eucharist. Mass attendance is a part of our
program.

Weekly Corner
Mark your calendars-High School Confirmation will
be Thursday, May 19, at 7:00 PM. A Cake and punch
reception will follow. Please join us in congratulating
these remarkable young adults as they complete their
Confirmation journey. Rehearsal will be Sunday, May
15, during our regular classes (4-5:30).
Registration is ongoing for next year. Forms are online
or you can pick them up in the Parish office. Mary and
Diane will be outside the Church accepting registrations
after all English Masses May 14-15, and 21-22. Don't
forget, early registration ends May 23.
The last day of class will be May 22 for High School
and May 23 for Jr High. Parents are encouraged to
attend the annual potluck on those nights and bring your
favorite dish for at least 6 people. See you there!
Attention all 5 th graders and their parents: Please
join us for the annual Jr High potluck on May 23 from 6
-7:30. Come and find out what we are all about! Bring
your enthusiasm and a dish to share and we will provide
the rest!.

PROCESO PARA PREPARACIÓN MATRIMONIAL
La Ley Canónica, requiere que la boda se celebre en la
Parroquia donde reside la novia o el novio, o
sus padres. Solamente la pareja puede hacer
los arreglos necesarios, no la familia. La
Diócesis de San Bernardino requiere un
mínimo de seis meses de preparación para el
proceso de los documentos. La fecha de la

Este sacramento es celebrado durante nuestro
servicio mensual de reconciliación el cual se efectúa a
las 7:00 de la tarde en el primer Miércoles de cada
mes. Este Sacramento también lo ofrecemos por cita
solamente: Llame al 676-4430 Nuestro próximo servicios
de Reconciliación será el próximo miércoles 4 de Mayo.
UNCION PARA LOS ENFERMOS
Si tiene una enfermedad seria, va ser hospitalizado/a o se
va someterse a una cirugía, usted debe de recibir el
Sacramento de la unción de los enfermos, se ofrece todos
los días de la semana en la misa de las 7:25 am. Llame
para hacer una cita. Si por alguna razón no puede venir a
la Iglesia, a recibir la unción podemos ir a su casa. Y

Nosotros como Comunidad Cristiana de fe de Sta.
Catalina de Alejandría, nos comprometemos a

entendimiento, promoviendo de tal modo las
enseñanzas de nuestro Señor,

Hoy san Pedro nos habla dos veces. En la primera
lectura, escuchamos un pasaje de su
sermón en Pentecostés; en la segunda, parte de
su primera carta. Antes, un aterrorizado pescador
con poca educación quien a menudo decía
lo equivocado, el Pedro de ahora habla sobre la
verdad que conoce. Todo lo que Jesús había dicho
ahora tiene sentido. Su muerte y resurrección
eran parte del plan de Dios, y nuestra fe y
esperanza pueden centrarse en Dios.
El Evangelio de hoy describe el relato del camino
a Emaús en el que Jesús se une a dos discípulos.
Atemorizados, tristes y confundidos
aquellos dos no reconocen a Jesús, quien les dice
lo que escuchamos a Pedro decir arriba: todo
esto tuvo que suceder como parte del plan de
Dios. Al final, estos discípulos reconocen a
Jesús así como nosotros debemos reconocerle –
al partir el pan.
