2013 APOA-Pfizer Best Scientific Paper Award for <strong>Orthopaedic</strong> Infection<br />
An Award of US$10,000 is available for the Best Musculoskeletal Infection Papers<br />
• This is open to all surgeons and scientists with an interest in musculoskeletal infection.<br />
• Applicants must submit in a format of a paper ready for publication.<br />
• The paper can be either clinical or basic science that is relevant to the infection of the musculoskeletal system.<br />
• Papers must be received by the closing date to be considered for the award.<br />
• It is a requirement that at least one of the authors present the work as a presentation at the APOA 2013 conference.<br />
• The winners of the prize will be announced at the APOA 2013 conference.<br />
• Judges will be blinded and selected from International Experts in the field.<br />
• The number of prizes per year will be one to a maximum of three and if the quality of the papers is not good enough in any<br />
year, no prize will be awarded.<br />
Sponsorship<br />
The award is fully funded by Pfizer.<br />
Panel of Judges<br />
A panel of judges will be selected by the Education Committee of the APOA. The panel of Judges decision will be final. Judges<br />
will be blinded.<br />

We require ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION of your abstract via our online submission system.<br />
Any graphic or table must fit within the margins and format outlined below.<br />
GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS<br />
No limit is imposed on the number of abstracts submitted by individuals.<br />
Abstracts are to be submitted in English only.<br />
Abstracts must be accompanied by payment of registration fees. If the abstract is subsequently not accept for presentation, and<br />
the author wishes to cancel his participation, the registration fee will be refunded to the author.<br />
Scheduling details and guidelines for the final preparation of accepted presentations will be included with the notification of<br />
acceptance.<br />
The final selection will be the responsibility of the Scientific Committee.<br />
All online submissions must include:<br />
• Financial Disclosure is required for EACH author.<br />
• You must have the last name and email address for every co-author on the abstract.<br />
• If all disclosures are not submitted, the abstract will not be considered for review.<br />

QUESTIONS<br />
: An English language abstract must be in the terminology familiar to specialists. The text should be succinct and<br />
substantive. The abstract must include: (a) Purpose / Aim: (b) Methods: (c) Results: (d) Conclusion: (e) Significance:<br />
: omit any reference to authorship and/or institution within the body of the abstract.<br />
: No longer than 400 words.<br />
: Abstracts should be submitted using the Abstract Template provided. The template is a Microsoft Word<br />
document. Please make sure to save your file as *.doc format, we will be unable to accept the *.docx format.<br />
