President’s Message
The AMAA had another successful year. It faced a number of challenges,
particularly the national economic downturn which affected both our
investments and donations. Our investments recovered some of the losses
we had experienced the year before, and we thank our Investment Committee
for its diligent work. Donations to the organization remained adequate and met
our budgetary goals. Our programs in the USA, Armenia and the Middle East
continued successfully and we thank the Armenian Evangelical Unions that work
with us in these ventures.
This past year saw the changing of the guard in our leadership. After many
years of service, initially as a Board Member, subsequently as President of our
organization, and finally as Executive Director, Mr. Andy Torigian retired, and the
position of Executive Director was passed on to Mr. Levon Filian. The last six
months have been a period of orientation and restructuring for Mr. Filian. The
transition has occurred smoothly, and we thank all those who helped in this period. Change is inevitable, and
how well an organization handles it reflects on the maturity and depth of talent that it has.
We look at the future optimistically, and we appreciate the work of all our committees and volunteers whose
activities are summarized in this Annual Report. These include our AMAA committees, our affiliates, and our
Mission Partners.
We thank all our donors and chronicle their participation in the various programs and endowment funds, and we
acknowledge that without their help and participation, we could not fulfill our mission, and reach all those who
we do.
We proceed with a spirit of thanks, and we reaffirm our commitment to our communities, our nation, and our God,
and ask for His divine guidance in our efforts.
Respectfully submitted,
H. Steven Aharonian, M.D.
President
