Education Education is the most important asset that can be provided to an individual. Armenian Evangelicals have been pioneers in establishing exceptional schools and colleges. Armenian Christian education has not only been instrumental in maintaining Armenian heritage, but also in the survival of a nation. It is essential we capture the next generation -- our future. Twenty-five Armenian Evangelical Schools in Armenia, Child Education - Armenian Evangelical Central High School Middle East, and North America rely on AMAA’s support. Over 1,000 needy students receive tuition aid. Haigazian University, the only institution of higher education in the Armenian Diaspora, is funded by the AMAA. The Theological Academy in Armenia is completely supported by the AMAA. Each year, 150 college students in the United States and Armenia receive scholarships, making it possible for them to receive a higher education. Through the help of the AMAA, our young generation is prepared to meet the challenges as they grow and become successful clergymen, teachers, businessmen, diplomats, social workers and professionals, not only economically, but morally and spiritually. Relief Aid Meeting the needs of the impoverished is a command of the Lord, as we read in Matthew 25, especially with respect to caring for those whose conditions are most destitute. The AMAA accepts this command very seriously and has provided relief aid and human services to thousands of people around the world, including those affected by wars or natural disasters. Together with the support of its members, friends, and partner organizations, the AMAA provides food for the hungry, shelter to the homeless, medical care for the sick, clothing to the naked, care for the children and elderly and love to those who are desperate and hopeless. Thousands of needy children and their families are sponsored, social service offices have reached out to the needy and soup kitchens and medical clinics have improved the health of many of the needy. These services were rendered not only in response to the needs, but also in response to God’s calling. Capital Fundraising Campaign Phase II Kickoff The Development Committee announced the Phase II of the AMAA’s Capital Campaign during its 91st Annual Banquet held at the Hackensack Golf Club in Oradell, New Jersey. The Campaign gained momentum with the generous pledge of $5 million in matching funds from Edward and Pamela Avedisian toward the construction of a new campus for the Avedisian School in Yerevan. Our first challenge will be to raise $5 million in matching funds to successfully build a new school campus. The AMAA plans to raise an additional $8 million for the following projects and programs: • Construction of a church and community center in Gyumri • Purchase and remodeling of churches in Armenia and Europe • Purchase and remodeling of kindergartens in Armenia • Renovating schools, summer camps and churches in Lebanon, Syria, Europe and Armenia • Support schools in the United States and Middle East • Start community and youth centers in the states • Organize and implement leadership, internships and youth programs in all our fields We take this opportunity to thank God for His abundant blessings upon our organization. We also thank all those who generously participated in our Phase I Capital Campaign by donating over $11 million. Our Phase I accomplishments include the following programs and projects: • Supported and renovated summer camps in Lebanon, Armenia, Karabagh and the USA. These include major renovations in Sheen-Shoghig Camp, Bedrosian Camp and the Bezjian Building in Camp KCHAG, Lebanon. • Supported and renovated the Haigazian University in Lebanon, where over 800 students receive quality education. The Heritage building was completely renovated and the Sirpuhe Philibosian Conte Hall was dedicated on April 30, 2010. • Renovation of the Baghramian Street Building which houses the Yerevan Evangelical Church and the Evangelical Theological Academy of Armenia. The Center has become a beacon for preaching the Gospel, Evangelism, Discipleship and various cultural activities. We invite you to join us in our Phase II Capital Campaign project.
