Rack & Pinion Steering Unit
This R&P Steering Unit by The Wright Place is specifically designed for racing. It is made of 356 T-6 heattreated
aluminum. It is available in 3 ratios: 1-1/2, 1-1/8 and 1-1 turns, lock to lock. The 1-1/2 is recommended
for off road use. A steel plate backs up the thrust of the gears to decrease wear. The unique
feature of our unit is that it eliminates bump steer by correctly mounting the unit, and the use of full length
tie rods to the center mounting location. It can also be ordered with a special hardened gear for hard use
received by power steering.

Sand Buggy Rack & Pinion Unit
The Sand Buggy Rack & Pinion Unit has the same design as the larger unit above, but is designed for sand
buggies and odysseys and weighs only five pounds. It is easily adapted to an a-arm or VW front end. The
tie rods are center mounted and will accept 3/8” , 7/16” or VW tie rods. There are two ratios available for
sand buggies: 1 and 1-1/2 turns lock to lock. One ratio is available for odysseys: 7/8 turn lock to lock.

Rack & Pinion Mounts
We offer three mounts made by The Wright Place, each one designed for a different front beam.
On all mounts you must cycle through travel to get the correct location.

Rack & Pinion Adjustable Stops
These adjustable stops bolt to the bottom of the rack & pinion, and can be adjusted
to stop rack travel from damaging the wear plate, or to prevent front tires from

Steering Universal Joints
We offer a variety of universal joints in several sizes and configurations, available in splined or
smooth ends. These are strong, reliable, zero-backlash joints. All units feature 4140 chromemolybdenum
alloy steel bodies, low friction needle roller bearings, heat-resistant fluorocarbon
seals, and a solid one-piece trunion made from 6150 chrome-vanadium. All splined ends are
provided with two set screws for positive shaft retention. A repair kit is also available.

Moroso Quick Release Steering Wheel Hub
Quick release steering wheel hubs are considered by many racers to be mandatory
safety items. They also make working in and entering/exiting your cockpit area
much easier. This quick-release hub from Moroso features a spring-loaded pin
which is easily activated with slight finger pressure, yet a positive lock prevents any
accedental release. The hub is made of steel, and bolts to any steering wheel with
a 1-3/4” mounting flange. Must be used with Moroso Steering Wheel Adapters.

Sway-A-Way Coil Springs
Sway-A-Way coil springs are designed and engineered for premium performance. These springs are cold
wound using cold finished chrome silicone wire, then heat treated for maxuimum memory, and the ends are
ground flat for proper seating. Each spring is preset to eliminate initial settling, shot peened to reduce fatigue,
and powder coated for corrosion protection. Springs have a 2 1/2” inside diameter to fit standard coil-over
shocks. Available for 8-, 10-, 12-, and 14-inch lengths, 100 Lb/In to 700 Lb/In (25 Lb/In increments).

Two-Stage Coil-Over Springs
Two stage coil-over spring sets offer many options over single springs. With
two springs stacked together, in combination with a shock built with a secondary
strop, the suspension can have two different spring rates-- a low
primary rate for straights and smooth terrain, and a higher rate for corners
and rough terrain. The precise point at which the rate changes can be easily
adjusted by the stop nut on the shock body to match driving conditions. Two
stage coils require threaded body shocks with secondary stop nuts and floaters.
Available for 8-, 10-, 12- and 14-inch lengths, 100 LB/In to 250 Lb/In
(25Lb/In increments). Consult rate chart below to determine the combination
that will best suit your requirements. Call for ordering information.

Bilstein Off-Road Gas Pressure Shock Absorbers
These mono-tube gas pressure shocks by Bilstein are
fade-resistant and fully rebuildable. A large piston area
produces instantaneous response to the slightest suspension
movements and eliminates dead spots. Deflective
disc valving eliminates the need for check valves
and tiny coil springs, resulting in consistent handling of
weight transfer and improved control during cornering
Working piston with valve discs and rebound chamber
and braking. Features a large 46mm piston and a
centerless ground, case hardened, hard chromed and
polished 14mm piston rod, with a one-piece aluminum
rod guide. Shocks can be revalved to your specifications
for more or less dampening or rebound, and are
fully rebuildable with the Bilstein Rebuild Kit.
