Rack & Pinion <strong>Steering</strong> Unit<br />

This R&P <strong>Steering</strong> Unit by The Wright Place is specifically designed for racing. It is made of 356 T-6 heattreated<br />

aluminum. It is available in 3 ratios: 1-1/2, 1-1/8 and 1-1 turns, lock to lock. The 1-1/2 is recommended<br />

for off road use. A steel plate backs up the thrust of the gears to decrease wear. The unique<br />

feature of our unit is that it eliminates bump steer by correctly mounting the unit, and the use of full length<br />

tie rods to the center mounting location. It can also be ordered with a special hardened gear for hard use<br />

received by power steering.<br />

Sand Buggy Rack & Pinion Unit<br />

The Sand Buggy Rack & Pinion Unit has the same design as the larger unit above, but is designed for sand<br />

buggies and odysseys and weighs only five pounds. It is easily adapted to an a-arm or VW front end. The<br />

tie rods are center mounted and will accept 3/8” , 7/16” or VW tie rods. There are two ratios available for<br />

sand buggies: 1 and 1-1/2 turns lock to lock. One ratio is available for odysseys: 7/8 turn lock to lock.<br />

We offer a variety of universal joints in several sizes and configurations, available in splined or<br />

smooth ends. These are strong, reliable, zero-backlash joints. All units feature 4140 chromemolybdenum<br />

alloy steel bodies, low friction needle roller bearings, heat-resistant fluorocarbon<br />

seals, and a solid one-piece trunion made from 6150 chrome-vanadium. All splined ends are<br />

Moroso Quick Release <strong>Steering</strong> Wheel Hub<br />

Quick release steering wheel hubs are considered by many racers to be mandatory<br />

safety items. They also make working in and entering/exiting your cockpit area<br />

much easier. This quick-release hub from Moroso features a spring-loaded pin<br />

which is easily activated with slight finger pressure, yet a positive lock prevents any<br />

accedental release. The hub is made of steel, and bolts to any steering wheel with<br />

a 1-3/4” mounting flange. Must be used with Moroso <strong>Steering</strong> Wheel Adapters.<br />

Sway-A-Way Coil Springs<br />

Sway-A-Way coil springs are designed and engineered for premium performance. These springs are cold<br />

wound using cold finished chrome silicone wire, then heat treated for maxuimum memory, and the ends are<br />

ground flat for proper seating. Each spring is preset to eliminate initial settling, shot peened to reduce fatigue,<br />

and powder coated for corrosion protection. Springs have a 2 1/2” inside diameter to fit standard coil-over<br />

shocks. Available for 8-, 10-, 12-, and 14-inch lengths, 100 Lb/In to 700 Lb/In (25 Lb/In increments).<br />

Two-Stage Coil-Over Springs<br />

Two stage coil-over spring sets offer many options over single springs. With<br />

two springs stacked together, in combination with a shock built with a secondary<br />

strop, the suspension can have two different spring rates-- a low<br />

primary rate for straights and smooth terrain, and a higher rate for corners<br />

and rough terrain. The precise point at which the rate changes can be easily<br />

adjusted by the stop nut on the shock body to match driving conditions. Two<br />

stage coils require threaded body shocks with secondary stop nuts and floaters.<br />

Available for 8-, 10-, 12- and 14-inch lengths, 100 LB/In to 250 Lb/In<br />

(25Lb/In increments). Consult rate chart below to determine the combination<br />

Bilstein Off-Road Gas Pressure Shock Absorbers<br />

These mono-tube gas pressure shocks by Bilstein are<br />

fade-resistant and fully rebuildable. A large piston area<br />

produces instantaneous response to the slightest suspension<br />

movements and eliminates dead spots. Deflective<br />

disc valving eliminates the need for check valves<br />

and tiny coil springs, resulting in consistent handling of<br />

weight transfer and improved control during cornering<br />

Working piston with valve discs and rebound chamber<br />

and braking. Features a large 46mm piston and a<br />

centerless ground, case hardened, hard chromed and<br />

polished 14mm piston rod, with a one-piece aluminum<br />

rod guide. Shocks can be revalved to your specifications<br />

for more or less dampening or rebound, and are<br />

fully rebuildable with the Bilstein Rebuild Kit.<br />
