On a remote beach, some may just see a plain
stretch of sand and water. For the boater, it’s a
day of social activity and a gathering place with
new opportunities. Right within reach is a fresh
citrus marinated seafood grill-out, conch salad
or sweet coconut water mixers. Barefoot in the
sand, people share their cruising philosophies,
or just share anything, while sparkling sea glass,
shells and driftwood wait to be discovered.
Maybe a Spanish coin would be spotted in the
foamy surf. The cruisers quickly find that the
most valuable treasure to be found at these
beachside gatherings are the friendships formed
with other active boaters. These new bonds and the memories
of the day can’t be bought or sold, and unlike a fleeting
material item, they stay with us always. These are the
true treasures.
