Valenzuela attends NCA Leadership Journey

In his continuing pursuit for
excellence, Mdpn. Daren Ril P. Valenzuela, a
3rd year Marine Engineering student was
chosen to be the first Lacsonian participant
for Ninoy and Cory Aquino Leadership
Journey (NCALJ).
Mdpn. Valenzuela who belonged
to the 6th batch of participants undergone
a leadership seminar about core youth
formation held at St. Paul de Chartres Vigil
House, Taytay, Rizal last June 8-12.
The said event which was participated
by 28 student leaders from all over the
country sought to reintroduce spirituality as
a major foundation for Filipino leadership.
Moreover, delegates were chosen
through two phases; preliminary phase is
the submission of application form and the
final phase is the online interview held last
May 2.
In line with the celebration of the
Earth Day, the Eagle Cross Inc. in cooperation
with the Department of Environment and
Natural Resources (DENR) and the local
governments of Alimodian and Maasin,
Province of Iloilo, participated in the Baklay
Bukid – Amlig Suba 2012, April 19 – 20.
The three-day activity included
mountain trekking, camping, medical and
dental missions, distribution of relief goods
to the residents, and hiking from Umingan,
Alimodian to the head waters of Tigum
River of Maasin Watershed.

On the other hand, NCAF was
launched on August 21, 2008 as a
campaign to introduce Ninoy Aquino to
new generation of Filipinos, iamninoy as
it was called before, brought to fore the
heroic side of Filipino youth.
However, when Cory Aquino passed
away, the campaign was elevated into
iamninoy-iamcory movement which aims
to surface a new generation of Filipinos
who are willing to step up as selfless heroes
in their own right.
In addition, Ninoy and Cory Aquino
Center for Leadership (NCACL), a partner
of NCA Leadership Journey, seeks to
identify, form, nurture, and recognize
individuals who, through a process of
self transformation, can develop into a
community of empowering world-class
leaders.

personnel, Boy Scouts of the Philippines,
Local Government Units of Alimodian,
Eagle Cross, Savers Rescue Volunteers,
JBLFMU-Molo Eagle Cross, JBLFMU-Molo
researchers and GMA TV 6 and dentists,
nurses and volunteers from Provincial
Health Office.
CESS initiates
run for a cause

Upholding the school’s
corporate social responsibility,
Community Extension Services Society
(CESS) of Molo Unit spearheaded the
first ever JBLFMU fun run for the benefit
of Severo Abeto Elementray School
in Brgy. Sooc, Arevalo, Iloilo City last
August 4.
The said activity aimed to raise
funds to aid the daily feeding program
of the identified malnourished in
partnership with BS Cruise Ship
Management students and the Parents
Teachers Association.
Moreover, the activity was
done to support the future outreach
program of CESS on education,
environment, health, livelihood, and
values formation.
With the theme “Run for
Severo Abeto Elementray School”, the
registration cost P50 for students and
P100 for non-students where the most
numbered participants came from the
first year Lacsonian students of Molo
and Arevalo unit.
“We chose this sort of activity
because it is the trending way of
encouraging people to join the event.
Aside from getting to enjoy yourself and
the health benefits of a morning jog, the
most important part here is that you get
to do all these and help other people
one way or another,” said Mrs. Edda Joy
T. Bulquiren, CESS Coordinator.
The activity was held in “Seven
Cities” composed of Cabacanan proper,
Cabacanan Rizal, Dao, Manasa, Umingan,
Lico and Tabug.
