Letter from Ulpiano Yndart at Santa Barbara to Ygnacio del <strong>Valle</strong><br />

reporting that Mr. Sprague, Surveyor for Los Angeles County, had<br />

inquired of him if del <strong>Valle</strong> and the other heirs wished to sell all of<br />

Rancho San Francisco; also says that he believes a strong company<br />

in San Francisco is primarily interested in buying all lands in the<br />

county upon which springs of liquid bitumen have been found. 3pp.<br />

Letter from Ygnacio Garcia at Los Angeles to Ygnacio del <strong>Valle</strong> at<br />

Camulos giving a few small business details and stating that it has<br />

been raining steadily and that the newspapers are old because the<br />

stages are six to eight days behind schedule. 2pp. Span. December 13, 1864<br />

Letter from Ulpiano Yndart at Santa Barbara to Ygnacio del <strong>Valle</strong><br />

referring to his letter of December 3 and asking if Don Ygnacio and<br />

the other heirs wanted to sell Rancho San Francisquito to a<br />

prospective buyer, Mr. Spragus; again mentions the interest<br />

displayed by the buyer in the tar springs on the ranch. 3pp. Span. December 21, 1864<br />
