Funding Support<br />
Of the 21 donor states, 16 are States Parties to the Convention on <strong>Cluster</strong> <strong>Munition</strong>s <strong>and</strong> one is a signatory (Australia)<br />
while the rest have not joined the convention: Iran, South Korea, <strong>and</strong> the United States (US) as well as Taiwan.<br />
Five donors—Australia, Germany, Norway, the United Kingdom (UK), <strong>and</strong> the US—contributed more than $6 million<br />
each in 2011.<br />
Approximately one-third of all mine action donors in 2011 did not appear to target any funding to states contaminated<br />
by cluster munitions. 7<br />
Almost 90% of total recorded international funding related to cluster munitions in 2011 went toward clearance<br />
activities, as detailed in the following table.<br />

Eight donors reported more than US$4.2 million for advocacy activities aimed at promoting the universalization <strong>and</strong><br />
implementation of the Convention on <strong>Cluster</strong> <strong>Munition</strong>s, including support to the <strong>Cluster</strong> <strong>Munition</strong> Coalition <strong>and</strong> for the<br />
convention’s Second Meeting of States Parties held in Beirut, Lebanon in September 2011. 8<br />
