losses c<strong>on</strong>sist <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> fish <strong>and</strong> shrimp p<strong>on</strong>d structures, water channels, irrigati<strong>on</strong> canals,<br />
building, housing <strong>and</strong> training facilities, equipment, library collecti<strong>on</strong>s, <strong>and</strong> o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs.<br />
Estimate <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> loss based <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> establishment costs <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> facilities <strong>and</strong> structures<br />
destroyed is about US$ 210,835,555, which c<strong>on</strong>sist <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>:<br />
1) Brackishwater p<strong>on</strong>ds in NAD Province = US$ 202,811,782<br />
2) Private Shrimp hatcheries = US$ 6,233,33<br />
3) BBAP, Ujung Batee = US$ 1,790,444<br />
Total = US$ 210,835,555<br />
b. Losses in life<br />
The number <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Tsunami</str<strong>on</strong>g> victims in The Regi<strong>on</strong>al Centre c<strong>on</strong>sists <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 20 people dead<br />
<strong>and</strong> 11 people missing, presumed dead.<br />
UNOSAT Satellite Images for <strong>Aquaculture</strong> Site in Aceh<br />
Satellite images obtained from UNOSAT provide a comparis<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> before <strong>and</strong> after<br />
tsunami in Aceh <strong>on</strong> aquaculture sites. These aquaculture sites may culture a range <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
marine finfish (milkfish, seabass, mullet etc.) <strong>and</strong> crustaceans (crabs, shrimps, etc.).<br />
The severity <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> damages is apparent. Figure 1 shows <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> aquaculture areas have<br />
been totally destroyed. The aquaculture sites in Figure 2 is slightly inl<strong>and</strong> compare to<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> area in Figure 1, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> severity <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> damaged is also <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> same.<br />
