susaN bulaNda (M.a.T.) is now an<br />
adjunct professor at carroll county<br />
community college. she teaches a<br />
program that she designed and moved<br />
from kutztown university where she<br />
taught the program for nine years. she<br />
is also the author of faithful friends:<br />
Holocaust survivors’ stories of the Pets Who<br />
Gave Them Comfort, suffered Alongside<br />
Them and Waited for Their return and<br />
soldiers in fur and feathers: The Animals<br />
that served in WWI: Allied forces. her<br />
first book won the prestigious Maxwell<br />
Medallion from the dog Writers<br />
association of america.<br />
MaRIlOu c. halvORsEN (sp./comm./<br />
Theat.) was honored in October by the<br />
jersey shore convention and visitors<br />
bureau at their 4th annual big Wave<br />
awards dinner where she was presented<br />
with the anchor award. halvorsen,<br />
who is president of the N.j. Restaurant<br />
association, was commended for her<br />
expedient response to help restaurants<br />
file insurance claims and recover in the<br />
aftermath of superstorm sandy.<br />
EdWaRd g. hENdRIcks (comp. sci./<br />
Math.) was re-elected in November to the<br />
brielle school board. he is a consultant<br />
for ajilon consulting in Piscataway. In<br />
2012 the two-time Monmouth college<br />
Male athlete of the year was inducted<br />
into the Monmouth university sports<br />
hall of fame. he was a nine-time team<br />
Most valuable Performer, a u.s. Indoor<br />
National Qualifier in the 1000 meter in<br />
1987, and the vitalis Olympic Invitational<br />
collegiate Ic4a 1500 meter champion<br />
in 1987. hendricks owned 12 Monmouth<br />
program records in cross country and<br />
track and field upon graduation.<br />
sEbasTIaN fERRaNTEll (hist./<br />
Poli. sci.) was elected president of the<br />
Northern Monmouth county chamber of<br />
commerce. he is also a member of the<br />
Eastern Monmouth county chamber of<br />
commerce and of the Monmouth-Ocean<br />

personal chef and registered dietician,<br />
was part of a culinary demonstration and<br />

Resorts and council chef for chef’s for<br />
humanity and advisory board member<br />
for the american vegetarian association.<br />

kaRyN f. cusaNEllI (bus. Mrkt.) was<br />
re-elected to the brick Township board<br />
of Education in the November 5 general<br />
Election with 7,566 votes. karyn and her<br />
husband, NIchOlas cusaNEllI '89,<br />
have been married almost 24 years and<br />
are proud to be parents of two current<br />
Monmouth university students, Marissa<br />
cusanelli '14 and gianna cusanelli '16.<br />
