Ringling brothers and barnum & bailey<br />
clown college, volunteers as a clown at<br />
jersey shore university Medical center<br />
in Neptune; writes a blog, clownalley.net<br />
(about clown history); and is trying to<br />
resuscitate the captain kangaroo brand,<br />

shauN gOldEN (Poli. sci.), an adjunct<br />
professor at Monmouth and the<br />
current Monmouth county sheriff, was<br />
honored on October 18, 2013, as an<br />
Outstanding Member of the community<br />
by the latino american association<br />
of Monmouth county for supporting<br />
issues and mentoring youth in the<br />
community. The Monmouth county<br />
sheriff’s Office conducts bilingual<br />
programs throughout Monmouth<br />
county such as the dangers of<br />
strangers, bicycle safety, youth Id and<br />
Ident adult, all aimed at promoting<br />
public safety.<br />
hETTIE WIllIaMs (M.a. hist.), an<br />
instructor in the department of history<br />
and anthropology at Monmouth, is<br />
pursuing a doctorate in history and<br />
culture at drew university where she has<br />
abd (all but dissertation) status. she<br />
earned her master’s in the program in<br />
december 2013. she is also co-author<br />
of Color struck: essays on race and<br />
ethnicity in Global Perspective (2010), and<br />
Converging Identities: Blackness in the<br />
Modern African Diaspora (2013) with dr.<br />
julius adekunle, a professor of history at<br />
Monmouth university.<br />
