<strong>AHEPA</strong> Chapter # 375 ( Eagle Rock) hosted a discussion of<br />

Rebetica lead by Grigori Maninakis, the entertainer and director<br />

of the Mikrokosmos Ensemble. There were 35 attendees at the<br />

new church of SS Nicholas, Constatntine & Helen Church at 80<br />

Laurel Ave, Roseland, NJ. The discussion was on the history of<br />

Rebetica, how it started, where it started from, why it started<br />

and by whom. A number of composers were discussed, and<br />

their style of music as we listened to a CD with their music.<br />

A number of interesting questions were answered as more<br />

discussion followed. Refreshments were served after the<br />

discussion. More events are scheduled for the future. An after<br />

Christmas, Christmas Party in January, and two more interesting<br />

speakers are in the future please call President, Peter Kokidis<br />

Monroe #75 Celebrates<br />

Holiday Season with a<br />

Turkey Dinner<br />

Thursday Nov. 15, Monroe 75, New Brunswick, held it’s annual<br />

Thanksgiving day dinner at The Stoneybrook Grill and Restaurant in<br />

North Branch, N.J.. The event was a resounding success. Beginning<br />

with a prayer, led by President John Millas, followed by the<br />

recognition of attending dignataries, a traditional turkey dinner, with<br />

all the trimmings was served. As always, brothers Nick Kumarianos<br />

and Simos Kontos did an outstanding presentation of the menu.<br />

Brothers Tom Vastardis, Anthony Kamarinopoulos, and Panos<br />

Stavrianides were presented with a ten, thirty, thirty-five year Ahepa<br />

Service pin. The presentation was made by <strong>District</strong> Secretary Stanley<br />

Gerondelis and President John Millas.<br />

The good food and warm fellowship, enjoyed by all, has once more<br />

demonstrated the role of Ahepa as our extended family.<br />

SUPREME LODGE VISITS THE ALEXANDER HAMILTON CHAPTER<br />

On Tuesday evening, November 27th the Alexander Hamilton Chapter<br />

#54 held a mass initiation of four new initiates. Two were from Alexander<br />

Hamilton and two were from Eagle Rock Chapter #375. The event took<br />

place at Rudy’s Restaurant in Hackensack, NJ.<br />

The Supreme Lodge was present on that evening to conduct the<br />

initiation ceremony. Visiting dignitaries include Supreme President John<br />

Grossomanides, Supreme Vice President Anthony Kouzounis, and Supreme<br />

Governor Jimmy Kokotas. The <strong>District</strong> Lodge was also in attendance.<br />

Those present enjoyed a delicious makaronada dinner, prepared by<br />

President Louis Arvanitis.<br />

The chapter made many presentations throughout the evening including a<br />

$5,000 donation to the Fifth <strong>District</strong> Cancer Research Foundation,<br />

$500 to <strong>Hurricane</strong> <strong>Sandy</strong> Relief and also 2,000 pounds of turkey for the<br />

victims of <strong>Hurricane</strong> <strong>Sandy</strong>. Other donations were also made to various<br />

<strong>AHEPA</strong> programs which included the children of St Basils Academy and<br />

<strong>AHEPA</strong> PAC.<br />

RECOGNITION OF OMISSION: In a prior March 25th flag raising<br />

event at the Bergen County Courthouse, the Alexander Hamilton Chapter<br />

54 honored Mr Tony Papamarklou, owner of the Graycliff caterers of<br />

Moonachie, for his past service to <strong>AHEPA</strong> and his support of Hellenic<br />

causes. Mr Papamarklou is also a supporter of the <strong>AHEPA</strong> Voice and a<br />

regular advertiser. This honor was not reported and as a result not printed.<br />

We congratulate Mr Papamarklou for this honor. ΠΑΝΤΑ ΑΞΙΟΣ.<br />
