Within the context <strong>of</strong> the other objectives and policies<br />
Plan the <strong>Town</strong> will support alternative kinds <strong>of</strong> private market<br />

rental and special needs housing to meet the demands <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>Town</strong> s changing demographics by facilitating applications<br />
that would provide housing for moderate and lower income<br />
households encouraging life cycle housing and encouraging<br />
the work <strong>of</strong> the Peel Non Pr<strong>of</strong>it Housing Corporation and any<br />
community based groups in the provision <strong>of</strong> special needs<br />
housing<br />
The <strong>Town</strong> will consider innovative housing types which are in<br />
keeping with the Principles Strategic Direction Goals and<br />
Objectives <strong>of</strong> this Plan<br />
The <strong>Town</strong> will consider establishing and implementing housing<br />
targets for effordeble rental and ownership housing and for<br />
market housing based on local supply and demand<br />

The <strong>Town</strong> will endeavour to facilitate applications that would<br />
provide affordable housing for moderate and lower income<br />
households<br />

The <strong>Town</strong> may consider allowing single room occupancy<br />
accommodation such as<br />
rooming and boarding houses and<br />
secondary garden suites as a form <strong>of</strong> affordable housing<br />
subject to the adoption <strong>of</strong> detailed policies<br />
The <strong>Town</strong> will work in collaboration with the Region <strong>of</strong> Peel to<br />
streamline the planning and building permit approval processes<br />
to facilitate affordable housing projects<br />

Along with the Region <strong>of</strong> Peel and other local municipalities<br />
the <strong>Town</strong> will advocate to the Province to provide municipalities<br />
with the authority to implement inclusionary zoning as one <strong>of</strong><br />
the tools for the provision <strong>of</strong> affordable housing in new<br />
development<br />

Along with the Region <strong>of</strong> Peel and other municipalities the<br />
<strong>Town</strong> will endeavour to advocate to the Federal and Provincial<br />
governments to provide greater economic incentives and<br />
funding for affordable housing projects<br />

As an incentive to encourage affordable housing in<br />
new<br />
development redevelopment and intensification as per<br />
Section 37 <strong>of</strong> the Planning Act zoning by laws may be passed<br />
to authorize an increase in height and or<br />
density <strong>of</strong> the<br />
development that would not otherwise be allowed by the<br />
Zoning By law This provision is subject to the <strong>Town</strong><br />
developing detailed implementation guidelines and protocols<br />
for implementing Section 37 <strong>of</strong> the Planning Act<br />

The <strong>Town</strong> will consider giving priority to selling or lease surplus<br />
municipal properties for the development <strong>of</strong> affordable housing<br />
where consistent with the goals objectives and policies <strong>of</strong> this<br />
Plan<br />

The <strong>Town</strong> shall consider reviewing its development standards<br />
with the objective <strong>of</strong> identifying and implementing appropriate<br />
opportunities to support and facilitate affordable housing<br />
