Symposium Picnic

Participants are invited to attend an evening picnic across the Mississippi River from downtown Saint Paul. Guests
will enjoy a summer evening at the park, watching boats on the river. A picnic dinner will be served (vegetarian
options will be available), entertainment and opportunities for guests to network and socialize with other
symposium attendees. The event will be held rain or shine, please dress accordingly.
Participants will receive 2 drink tickets for this event. Each ticket is valid for one alcoholic beverage, or soda, at this
event. Beyond the drink tickets, a cash bar will be available.
Guests may walk the short distance across the river or ride the continuous shuttle buses which will also be provided.
Shuttle bus service will begin at approximately 5:45 p.m. Buses will load and depart on the south side of the
RiverCentre, on Kellogg Boulevard, in front of the building. Buses will shuttle from the RiverCentre to Harriet
Island.
Beginning at approximately 7:00 p.m., buses will continuously shuttle from Harriet Island, to the Crowne Plaza
Hotel, to the RiverCentre, to the Holiday Inn St. Paul Downtown.
The last bus will leave Harriet Island at 10:30 p.m.
The Hydropolis Tour: An Interdisciplinary Adventure on the Mississippi River

Guests must sign up onsite at the registration desk to receive a ticket, and to participate. Limited seats are available.
Buses will pick up participants at 5:15 p.m. in front of the RiverCentre, and leave at 5:30 p.m. Guests will board the
Betsy Northrup Paddleboat at the Lower Landing on Harriet Island in Saint Paul between 5:45-6:00 p.m., The boat
will leave the dock at 6:15 p.m. and return at 8:30 p.m.
A summer supper will be provided on board. Cash bar will be available.
The Hydropolis Tour will head downriver to Mounds Park bluff and Pig’s Eye, then back upriver to the confluence
of the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers, and Hidden Falls Park. The festivities will feature the musical talents of
Dreamland Faces. Artists and scientists from Public Art Saint Paul's City Art Collaboratory, Saint Paul’s City Artist
in Residence, and the Watershed Artist in Residence will be on board instigating entertainment and conversation.
Buster Simpson, the internationally recognized water infrastructure artist, will also be on deck as our special guest.
This event is hosted by Public Art Saint Paul.
