The TETRA Association
The TETRA Association leads the global development and promotion
of TETRA critical communications for professional users. Since the
technology was launched in the late 1990s, TETRA networks have been
deployed across the world.*
The TETRA Association represents the interests of its Members by working
to develop, enhance and champion TETRA technology, ensuring the
delivery of secure, robust and reliable communications both now and in
the future.
As a member of the TETRA Association, you have the opportunity to be
fully involved in advancing TETRA.
Users can share knowledge, experience and requirements, playing a crucial part in influencing the
technology roadmap that drives the evolution of the TETRA standard.

Working Groups - Access and contribute to knowledge and information
There are many Working Groups within the TETRA Association. These are set up and managed by the
Members, and report regularly to the Association CEO and Board. Members are encouraged to actively
participate in these Working Groups, which include:
Applications Working Group (Apps WG) – Data and TETRA
The Apps WG brings together users, application developers and equipment manufacturers interested
in data applications on TETRA. The Apps WG collects and organises requirements and also provides a
place to discuss data applications including the sharing of experiences and best practices.
North America Interest Group – Taking TETRA to New Markets
This Working Group was formed in 2008, and is responsible for identifying the processes and working
with the appropriate organisations to facilitate the availability of TETRA technology in the United
States.
Operator User Association (OUA) – Giving Users a Voice
The OUA is a forum for knowledge exchange between Operators and Users of TETRA systems. The OUA
carries the responsibility of collecting and submitting User priorities to the Technical Forum.
Radio Spectrum Group (RSG) – Liaising and Lobbying
The RSG works with Pan-European regulatory bodies and across continents with governments and
regulators to safeguard and promote the needs of critical communications, providing a collective
voice on spectrum requirements.

Rail Forum - Putting TETRA on Track
The Rail Forum provides a platform for everyone interested in TETRA
implementation on railways. Participants share experiences and
information, focussing on the railway market potential for future TETRA
projects, the use of TETRA for Signalling control on long haul, and case study
collation to aid marketing activities. Current Members include consultants,
suppliers and rail operating companies.
Security and Fraud Prevention Group (SFPG) – Keeping TETRA Secure
The SFPG produces advice, Technical Reports and makes Recommendations
which, if complied with, ensure that the TETRA security features used in
equipment supplied by different manufacturers are optimally and securely
implemented whilst supporting interoperability.
Technical Forum (TF) – Taking Technology to Market
The TF provides a general forum for technical knowledge exchange. It develops and oversees the TETRA
Interoperability Testing and Certification Process. This allows TETRA equipment from different suppliers
to work together. The TF takes User and Operator input for the priorities for technical developments and
co-operates with ETSI, which maintains the TETRA Standard.
TETRA Association Marketing Group
The TETRA Association Marketing Group drives the integrated marketing communications activity, defining
the positioning and raising the profile of the Association. Members are always welcome to participate – a
marketing background is not essential. The required qualifications are common sense and the ability to
deliver on commitments!
TETRA Small and Medium Enterprise Forum (SME Forum) –Noting the Needs of SMEs
The TETRA SME Forum provides a mechanism for the small and medium enterprise TETRA manufacturers
to ensure their interests, views and proposals are noted by the TETRA
Association’s Board, Forums and Working Groups. Examples include
the recommendation of and participation in promotional events
undertaken by the Association, and discussing and sharing knowledge
and concerns about the essentiality of patents for TETRA.
By participating in any of the above groups and/or having
access to the Members Only area of www.tetra-association.com,
Members also gain early access to new technical documents and
participate in Member Enquiry stages to express their views prior
to publication.

Regional Forums
There are a number of regional TETRA Forums with membership specific to a country or region.
These provide a platform for localised technology promotion and also support Association
initiatives to help national Members to get maximum benefit.
