Robert Myers<br />
Sharon Lynn Kagan<br />
Dr. Robert Myers is an independent researcher and consultant<br />
and founder of the Consultative Group on Early Childhood Care<br />
for Development. He has a Doctorate in Economics of <strong>Education</strong>-Comparative<br />
<strong>Education</strong> from the University of Chicago. He<br />
has conducted consulting work for the World Bank, UNICEF,<br />
UNESCO, USAID, the Aga Khan Foundation, the Inter-American<br />
Development Bank, and the Bernard van Leer Foundation. He<br />
has evaluated early childhood programs in Peru, Kenya, India<br />
and Nicaragua. Dr. Myers has co-edited two books and authored<br />
four major publications. During the last 20 years, his writing has<br />
concentrated on topics related to programming for early childhood<br />
care and development. Dr. Myers served six-year terms as a<br />
Board member of the Comparative and International <strong>Education</strong><br />
Society.<br />
Dr. Sharon Lynn Kagan is the Virginia and Leonard Marx Professor<br />
of Early Childhood and Family Policy and Co-Director of the National<br />
Center for Children and Families at Teachers College, Columbia<br />
University, and Professor Adjunct at Yale University's Child<br />
Study Center. Dr. Kagan, recognized nationally and internationally<br />
for her work related to the care and education of young children<br />
and their families, is a frequent consultant to the White House,<br />
Congress, the National Governors’ Association, the US Departments<br />
of <strong>Education</strong> and Health and Human Services, numerous<br />
states, foundations, corporations, and professional associations,<br />
and serves on over 40 national boards or panels. In addition to<br />
these contributions, she is recognized for her unique scholarship<br />
and analytic work in over 225 publications that has helped the<br />
field define school readiness, the early childhood system, dimensions<br />
of collaboration, and leadership in early care and education.<br />
She received her Doctorate of <strong>Education</strong> in Curriculum and Teaching<br />
from Teachers College, Columbia University.
