Trees and flowers bloom, people find themselves spending more time outdoors and even begin to think about warm weather attire. Whether we feel the transition of the season inside or outside, spring is in fact, a time for transformations. We abandon the monotonous, dark days of winter with an eagerness to put our best foot forward. In our industry, PinnacleHealth also is entering a new phase of its own with healthcare reform. We continue to grow to meet the needs of our community through new partnerships, additional services and providers, as well as infrastructure changes to better accommodate our patients. Health and wellness is something we need to think about each day of our lives. While we’ve experienced our share of emergencies and miracles within our system (one of which you will read about on page 4), there is an equal amount of individuals seeking information and support on general health, disease management and preventative medicine. All of these topics are addressed in this publication. Today’s “EveryWoman” often is at the center of her family unit. Whether they are caring for a spouse, children, friends or aging parents, every female could use additional resources to get the job done. It’s also important for those caregivers to not forget how to care for themselves. From pedicures to planting gardens—we all have our springtime traditions. So, too, does PinnacleHealth as it continues to honor its tradition of patient-centered care. Our health system is doing great things and providing many choices along the way to help you find—or put back— a spring in your step. A MESSAGE FROM OUR president & ceo Our extended families are unique parts of our lives. We may not see them often and may not always agree or get along, but we remain connected. Cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family members once or twice removed are part of our history and experiences. Physical encounters may occur only at occasions like weddings, baby showers, relocation, or funerals, but technology and social networking allow us to keep in touch. In some ways, PinnacleHealth System is like an extended family. Within our organization, we use technology to stay connected— to each other and with our patients. We encompass a wide range of medical specialties and experience. And first and foremost at the heart of our relationship with you is concern for the well-being of you and your loved ones. Trusting your health care to a health system allows for a greater range of referral options when needed. Our family includes surgeons, therapists, primary care providers, oncologists, and so many more experts in their fields. Like your family, we know each other, and that promotes better care. It gives our patients access to a full continuum of care across family care, prevention, diagnostics, and treatment—all with coordination and communication. One way we communicate: we use technology to stay engaged with each other. Our electronic medical records (EMR) enable us to stay connected to you during your lifetime and communicate with all your doctors and specialists. And our patient portal promotes your patient satisfaction. Patients can send e-mails, schedule appointments, and access test results with this secure feature. Within our system, we stay connected to each other to ensure that you can stay connected to us. We hope you will consider PinnacleHealth System as another member of your family. You may not always need or want us, but we’re here for you if and when that time arrives.
