At PinnacleHealth, we believe
that the first few hours after birth
are an important time for bonding.
From the moment your baby is
born, you will be encouraged
to be involved in his or her care
throughout your hospital stay.
In 2011, PinnacleHealth took steps to
advance its goal of excellence in maternity
care. Focusing on the birth of the family,
Family Centered Maternity Care became the
standard practice. Family Centered Maternity
Care is the patient and family experience
throughout the continuum of care that
includes antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum
and post-discharge services. From the
moment your baby is born, mothers and
babies stay together. The baby’s first baths
as well as initial assessments are done
in the mother’s room. “The objective of
Family Centered Maternity Care is to deliver
personalized care that focuses on the needs
of the mother-baby dyad, supports the
birth of a family, and fosters the parent-child
relationship,” explains Marianne Allen MN,
RNC-OB, CNS Clinical Nurse Specialist at
PinnacleHealth.
