Ph.D. in Political Science<br />
The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Program in Political Science offers you the choice between the majors<br />
Political Science, International Relations, and ublic Administration<br />
Purpose and Objectives<br />
The Doctor of Philosophy Program in Political Science has been developed in response to the high<br />
demand of graduates in political science in the present, rapidly changing environment of the transition<br />
economies. The vision for the economic and social development of the nation must have the appropriate<br />
human resource development policy, especially in regard to doctoral programs. This Ph.D. research<br />
program will help the candidates to acquire new ways of thinking and attain competence in conducting<br />
research. They will be allowed to study and experiment freely in order to discover the new issues and to<br />
enable them to create real academic progress.<br />
Admission Requirements<br />
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree (with Honours) from an educational institute<br />
or university recognized by the Ministry of Education. The degree may be in any field of study.<br />
Selection Procedures (Eligibility Criteria)<br />
In order to be fully admitted to the program, the applicant must meet the following requirements:<br />
Sucessfully pass the <strong>RU</strong> test (English Test): Applicants who have a TOEFL score of 500 or higher<br />
within the last 2 years are exempted. Also exampted are students who graduated from a university in<br />
English speaking countries.<br />
Successfully pass the Advanced Test (Concepts of current issues in Political Science).<br />
Applicants must pass the interviewing panel before being admitted to the Ph.D. program. This selection<br />
will be in accordance with the Rules of Graduate Studies (2004; Ramkhamhaeng University, No. 8.4. of<br />
section 1 and No. 9.4. of section 2 (not available online).<br />
Time Limits<br />
Applicants who earned a Bachelor’s Degree (with Honours) must complete the Ph.D. program in 8<br />
years. Applicants who earned a Master’s degree must complete the Ph.D. program in 6 years.<br />
