A Transformed <strong>Palo</strong><br />

<strong>Alto</strong> Art Center Opens<br />

on October 6!<br />

The <strong>Palo</strong> <strong>Alto</strong> Art Center welcomes the public back to its<br />

newly transformed space after eighteen months <strong>of</strong> renovation.<br />

Created by the community more than 40 years ago, the<br />

newly transformed Art Center is the place where you can<br />

actively participate in the arts!<br />

Highlights <strong>of</strong> our renovated building include a new Children’s<br />

Wing with double the number <strong>of</strong> classrooms, transformed<br />

exhibition galleries, new lobby spaces and public areas and<br />

beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces for all to enjoy!<br />

Celebrate the new <strong>Palo</strong> <strong>Alto</strong> Art Center at our free community<br />

Saturday, October 6, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., FREE<br />

<strong>Enjoy</strong> a dedication, hands-on art activities, demonstrations,<br />

and music and dance performances for all ages and<br />

refreshments. This exciting event will showcase all <strong>of</strong> the Art<br />

Center’s programming areas: exhibitions, studios, classes for<br />

adults and children. While at the Art Center, don’t miss our<br />

new Gallery Shop!<br />

Community Creates<br />

October 6, 2012-April 7, 2013<br />

Main Galleries<br />

This exhibition will partner eight contemporary artists<br />

with community members to create installation projects<br />

in the new gallery space. Community Creates presents<br />

compelling contemporary installations in a wide range <strong>of</strong><br />

media—painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, and<br />

new media--created by important emerging and established<br />

Bay Area artists. A highlight <strong>of</strong> the exhibition is Angela Buenning<br />

Filo’s The <strong>Palo</strong> <strong>Alto</strong> Forest, which features hundreds <strong>of</strong><br />

photographs <strong>of</strong> trees in <strong>Palo</strong> <strong>Alto</strong>, asking the community to<br />

consider the question: How do the trees that surround us<br />

impact our lives<br />

<strong>Palo</strong> <strong>Alto</strong> Art Center Logo<br />

Competition<br />

October 6; December 21, 2012<br />

Children’s Community Gallery Space<br />

The <strong>Palo</strong> <strong>Alto</strong> Art Center’s recent logo competition generated<br />

204 submissions from 157 individual from ages 5 to 72.<br />

See them all--- including the winning design—in this special<br />

exhibition that highlights the logo design and development<br />

process.<br />
