Ceramics Open Studio
Intermediate/advanced ceramics students choose their own
projects and work at their own pace under the guidance of
a skilled ceramic artist. The class introduces new ceramics
tools such the potters’ wheel and the clay extruder, as well
as more advanced ceramics techniques used to hand-build
clay vessels and to construct clay sculptures. This class
boosts students’ confidence and skill levels, while building
patience and dedication. Previous experience with clay is

3-D Sculpture
Beginner/intermediate sculptors learn how to plan and realize
additive and subtractive processes using a great variety
of materials such as wood, plaster, cloth, plastic, cardboard,
and clay. Inspired by what they learn about great sculptors
like Brancusi, Picasso, and Moore, students learn to use
techniques such as modeling, construction, assemblage,
and carving, to create masterful free-standing realistic
and abstract sculptures. This class builds visualization and
strategizing skills in young artists. Instructor: Sharon Reich

Wheel Throwing
This intermediate/advanced ceramics class introduces the
potter’s wheel as a tool to throw pots, bowls, mugs and
plates. An experienced potter will assist students in experimenting
with different miniature wheels, kick wheels, and
electric wheels to find the kind of wheel that best suits each
individual artist. This class boosts students’ confidence and
skill levels while, building patience and dedication. Previous
experience with clay is required–advanced students can use

Together with Clay
In this open-ended class, children learn ceramics basics together
with a parent or guardian. Hand-building techniques,
including modeling, pinch, coil, and slab, are introduced
with an emphasis on making unique teapots, cups, mugs,
bowls, and plates each family can use at home. Students of
all ages develop basic ceramics skills, gain self-confidence,
and have fun. No previous experience with clay is required.

Sculpture
Fun with Sculpture
This introductory sculpture class is for young artists who like
to build! Students lean how to use simple tools to manipulate
a great variety of materials such as wood, plaster, cloth,
plastic, cardboard, and clay to make free-standing figures,
animals and abstract constructions. As students plan and
realize 3-D artworks that “work” from all sides, they exercise
their fine motor skills as well as their visualization and planning

Drawing
Creative Drawing
Using a great variety of drawing materials and techniques
students draw portraits, still-lives, and landscapes. The class
introduces and hones foundation drawing skills including
shading, composition, and controlling line quality, while learning
about how these techniques were used and improved upon
by master draftsmen throughout art history. Young artists grow
more confident as they learn to make deliberate artistic choices

Drawing for Kids
Who Love to Draw
This is a wonderful class for kids who turn every refrigerator
into a mini art gallery. In a fun and open-ended environment,
students are introduced to techniques like shading,
perspective, and proportioning that help them realize their
artistic visions. Students decide individually if they are more
interested in drawing from life or from imagination, or both.
Young artists leave the class with a set of technical drawing
skills that make them feel excited and empowered to

create professional-looking comics. Students learn about
design, line quality, and anatomical proportions, as well
as the differences between Manga, anime, and Western
comic styles. The class aims to equip young artists with the
technical skills and the background knowledge to make fun
