Summary: GMM reportsthat a "near normal"<br />
season and an average collecting effort<br />
produced just 27 new county records. The most<br />
noteworthy event was a Speyeria idalia<br />
population boom that seemsto have occurred on<br />
suitable habitat all across the eastern twothirds<br />
of the state. The state total now stands<br />
at 173 species.<br />

Summary: This was the long-awaited "ood<br />
year" after several years of depressing belowaverage<br />
populations and diversity. Juneflights<br />
in western Nebraska weregenerally twoto three<br />
weeks early, with Speyeriazereneand Polygonia<br />
satyrus being rediscovered after lengthy<br />
absences. A nice population of 5, caryaevorum<br />
was finally found in eastern Nebraska, and a<br />
Blaine County wetland contained good numbers<br />
of C. seleneand 5. eurydiceas well as Euphyes<br />
bimacula. A total of 120 species were<br />
encountered, including 149county and one state<br />
record, bringing the state total to 199 species,<br />
with anaverage of47specieslcounty. As usual,<br />
moth records werefew,althoughfour species<br />
were added to Kosche's 1989 "Partial List,"<br />
bringing the state total to619 species.<br />
