Included are 36 county and two state records<br />
for butterfly species. Only two moth species<br />
weredetermined ascounty records, with<br />
northerjy and south-easterly range extensions.<br />
Mild January and early Februaryat Jerseydale,<br />
Mariposa County, with 13 inches of snow in<br />
February (05). Bay Area mild and dry most of<br />
January and much of February (RLL). A very dry<br />
winter with minimal snow pack which melted<br />
early, but not as early as 1992 (AM5). Warmish<br />
March and April, but May unseasonably cool<br />
(05). 5pring was cool with several late storms<br />
delaying flight seasons (AMS). Bay Area with<br />
unusually late rains in May with spring-flyers<br />
still observedforthe Xerces counts in late June<br />
(RLL). In Mariposa County, hot in mid-August,<br />
and rained two inches in early October (05)<br />
Summer was relatively cool, but very dry; no<br />
measurable summer rain in the high country, but<br />
season ended veryearly with snow 12,28<br />
September, 14October, and heavy snow by6<br />
November (AMS). Low altitude rains began 4<br />
October in northern California, but commenced<br />
in earnest4 November, and continued many<br />
days until year's end (RLL). Rain and snow in<br />
Mariposa County Novemberand December (05).<br />
