Biodiversity Action Reporting System is the web-based information system that
supports the planning, monitoring and reporting requirements of UK, national, local
and company Biodiversity Action Plans (BAPs).
Fen or bog grown up with low bushes, willows, alders, etc.
The vegetation which establishes itself on a given site for given climatic conditions in
the absence vegetation of human actions and after a long period of time.
A species that is indigenous only in a specified area.
Areas of marshy vegetation on a slope, usually around a spring.
A shallow, sediment-filled body of water formed by retreating glaciers or draining
floodwaters.
Local Biodiversity Action Plan
An earthy deposit, consisting of clay mixed with calcium carbonate, formed in
prehistoric seas and lakes and used to improve the texture of sandy or light soil.
A plant or animal that is indigenous to a country, locality, or habitat, and not introduced
by man.
Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act.
A term describing the relational position of a species in its ecosystem.
A plant or animal introduced into an area my humans. Not naturally occurring in
that place.
The interface between land and a river or stream.
Special Area of Conservation. A statutory protected site which has been given special
protection under the European Union's Habitats Directive.
Site of Special Scientific Interest. A statutory protected site, legally protected under the
Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, as amended by the Countryside and Rights of Way
(CROW) Act 2000 and the Natural Environment and Rural Communities (NERC) Act
2006.
A non-statutory protected site.
