Tulsa Hills shopping center grows By Noah Laubach 6TH GRADE S everal new stores opened in nearby Tulsa Hills shopping center last month. Staples, Panera Bread, Freebirds World Burrito, and Dick’s Sporting Goods are brand new to the center. Other stores that have opened there this fall are Triple Play Express Car IMAGE 1 — LOCATION: IMAGE 3 — LOCATION: Ravin’ Times Image SEARCH ! Wow, there are lots of great landmarks in Tulsa! All the pictures below are of major landmarks — can you tell what they are? I asked a few people in Riverfield’s Middle School about their favorite places at Tulsa Hills. Logan Wheeler said his favorite is Vintage Stock. Zeke Clark likes Dick’s Sporting Goods. James Morley couldn’t decide because he likes Finish Line, the Apple Store, and Oakley. When I asked Mrs. Molloy, she said she loves to shop at all of the stores there. Some other popular stores at Tulsa Hills are Rue 21, Game Stop, Lowe’s, Target, and Best Buy. MYSTERY PERSON By Stephen Holland 8TH GRADE Y ou may have guessed the Mystery Person last time, but this time YOU WILL NOT FIGURE IT OUT! (I hope.) Once again, I will ask a middle school student some questions. These questions will make it very hard to figure out who the person is. I will make you think HARDER this time! Do you think you will figure it out? Why am I asking you? You won’t figure it out. Or will you?! Stephen: Who is your favorite superhero? Mystery Person: Silver Surfer. PHOTO BY STEPHEN HOLLAND December 2011 RAVIN’ TIMES Markers 30% POLL: Markers vs. Colored Pencils S tephen here, bringing you the poll results on whether you prefer colored pencils or markers. Exactly why did I ask you if you have an opinion about either of these coloring utensils? I have always liked both colored pencils and markers, but I have always had dislikes about both. I like colored pencils because they don’t bleed through paper, and you can blend colors easily. But they don’t look as colorful as markers. With markers, the color pops off Colored Pencils 70% GRAPH BY STEPHEN HOLLAND the page, and they are so brilliant! But if you try to mix them, they don’t blend. You can’t erase them, either. And sometimes they bleed through the paper. Thinking about this made me want to find out what other people think. So I decided to ask you, the middle school students, which coloring utensil you preferred. So who do you think won? You probably already know because you looked at the graph first. But if you read this first and guessed right, you get an imaginary gold star and a high five. Winter Break is just around the corner ! The Break will start tomorrow, December 21, and last for two weeks until January 3. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! 7
