<strong>The</strong> <strong><strong>Australia</strong>n</strong> <strong>Geologist</strong> is a quarterly magazine-style newsletter which<br />
includes society news, conference details, special reports, feature articles, book<br />
reviews and other items <strong>of</strong> interest to Earth scientists. Each issue has a long<br />
shelf-life and is read by more than 3000 geologists, geophysicists,<br />
palaeontologists, hydrologists, geochemists, cartographers and geoscience<br />

Artwork<br />
Finished art should be supplied electronically via Email (if attachments, total<br />
to less than 2Mb), floppy disk, zip disk or CD in either MAC or PC versions <strong>of</strong><br />
QuarkXpress, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe PhotoShop. EPS or TIFF.<br />
Note that Word files are not classed as finished art – if artwork cannot be<br />
supplied in any <strong>of</strong> the preferred formats listed above, an additional typesetting<br />
fee will be charged. Do not embed logos, illustrations etc in Word Documents.<br />
All logos (800 dpi) and images (300 dpi) must be supplied in JPEG, EPS or TIFF<br />
format. All fonts, logos and images which appear in your advert should be<br />
included as separate files. Please also include a hard copy. Unfinished art to be<br />
provided for the advertising material by the copy deadline. Disks will be<br />
returned upon request only. You are welcome to contact the <strong>Geological</strong> <strong>Society</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Australia</strong> for more information or to discuss other options.<br />
Advertising Rates and Sizes<br />
Full colour advertising is available for inside-front and inside-back covers as<br />
well as the middle spread. Advance bookings are essential for colour<br />
advertising. Spot colour for other pages is available on request. Basic rates<br />
quoted are for finished art supplied in one <strong>of</strong> the file formats specified below. BUSINESS CORRESPONDENCE<br />
Discount rates apply where the same artwork is run in two issues within a<br />
calendar year. Where typesetting is required, only one typesetting fee is<br />
charged for multiple advertisements. Please note that an additional 10% GST<br />
applies to all advertising.<br />

Contributions are preferred as email. MS WORD documents for PC<br />
(or compatible) are the preferred file attachment. Photos, maps, etc,<br />
should be submitted as separate files and saved as either a .tif .pdf or<br />
.jpg at a resolution greater than 300 dpi. If contributors produce a<br />
file greater than 3MB it would be appreciated if they could be copied<br />
to CD and forwarded to the Hon Editor. Short clearly typed<br />
contributions (up to ~1000 words) are accepted, should a member be<br />
unable to send an email. <strong>The</strong> editor reserves the right to reject, revise<br />
and change text editorially.<br />
Photographs: Cover photograph submissions should preferably be<br />
digital taken at a resolution greater than 300dpi. Web resolution<br />
images and colour prints (unless exceptional) are not <strong>of</strong> sufficient<br />
quality for full colour printing.<br />
Colour transparencies are also acceptable. Photographs for articles<br />
may be prints, slides or digital images; they may be black and white<br />
and colour.
