<strong>Quinte</strong> <strong>West</strong> OPP appoint two new<br />

community <strong>of</strong>ficers<br />

School Resource Officer<br />

Constable Maggie McCaughen joined the OPP in 2007. As a five year<br />

constable working out <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Quinte</strong> <strong>West</strong> detachment, Maggie has<br />

amassed a wealth <strong>of</strong> operational policing experience, particularly in<br />

front-line service delivery and various investigative disciplines. Maggie<br />

has completed a number <strong>of</strong> specialty training courses including: Scenes<br />

<strong>of</strong> Crime Officer training, Domestic Violence Investigations, and she is<br />

a trained Restorative Justice facilitator. Prior to her career in policing,<br />

Maggie completed her Master’s degree in Criminology at the University<br />

<strong>of</strong> Toronto. Maggie is excited about her new role as the School<br />

Resource Officer. She is dedicated to promoting a safe school<br />

environment throughout the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Quinte</strong> <strong>West</strong>. Maggie will be<br />

utilizing innovative approaches to tackle today’s youth issues and to<br />

increase police accessibility to students.<br />

Community <strong>Service</strong>s Officer<br />

Constable Dave Ludington has been in the <strong>Quinte</strong> Region since 1985.<br />

He started his policing career in 1999 with the former <strong>Quinte</strong> <strong>West</strong><br />

<strong>Police</strong> <strong>Service</strong>. In 2004 he became a member <strong>of</strong> the amalgamated<br />

service, becoming a member <strong>of</strong> the OPP.<br />

After several years <strong>of</strong> working general patrol Dave took on the role <strong>of</strong><br />

School Resource Officer and media relation’s <strong>of</strong>ficer in 2008. In 2010<br />

he returned to platoon where he worked a temporary assignment as<br />

Acting Sergeant.<br />

In September 2012 Dave was the successful applicant for the position <strong>of</strong><br />

Community <strong>Service</strong>s Officer and quickly assigned to his new role with<br />

the <strong>Quinte</strong> <strong>West</strong> OPP. Dave, his wife and 2 children live in <strong>Quinte</strong> <strong>West</strong>.<br />

Dave is an avid cyclist and coordinates the OPP Bicycle Patrol Program.<br />
