CHSA HUNTER DERBY CLASSES: The 2013 CHSA Finals will include a Hunter Derby to be held on Sunday, August 25, 2013. Only riders and horses already entered in the 2013 CHSA Finals may enter into the 2013 CHSA Hunter Derby. The Derby will consist of 3 classes with fence heights of: 18”, 2’ and 2’6”. Only 1 entry per horse per height will be allowed. Entry fee for each horse and rider combination will be $100 per class. Only 20 entries per class based on time receipt of entry. (ie First Come First Serve) We will keep a wait list. Non-‐Professional riders will be pinned as a separate class from Professional riders. Braiding and formal attire strongly recommended. The 10 highest-‐scoring horse-‐and-‐rider combinations after the first round of each class are eligible to return for the second round. The Non-‐Professional and Professional rider/horse combination will be pinned as separate classes based on the total two-‐round score. For example with 10 riders returning of which 6 are Non-‐Professionals they would be pinned 1-‐6 and the 4 Professional Riders will be pinned 1-‐4. Each CHSA Finals Hunter Derby class must have a minimum of 10 entries to be eligible to run at the CHSA Finals show and receive ribbons and prizes. If, at the entry deadline, there are fewer then 10 entries for a class, then the following will occur: • Fewer then 10 entries but more then 5 at the entry deadline, the class will run but with no prizes awarded only ribbons. (ie 5 – 9 entries) • Fewer then 5 entries the class will not run and entry fees will be refunded. If the entry is only participating in one class the office fee and stall fees will also be refunded. If the entry is also participating in other classes only the canceled class fee will be refunded. (ie 4 – 1 entries) 35. CHSA HUNTER DERBY – 18” Entry Fee: $100. Open to any horse and pony entered in Short Stirrup, Long Stirrup and CT Training Hunter 18”. Fences not to exceed 18”. The first round will be a Classic Working Hunter Style Round and numerically Judged on quality, movement, jumping style, manners and way of going. The top 10 exhibitors from the first round will return to jump a second round in reverse order of their scores in the first round; lowest score going first and highest score going last. The second round will be a Handy Hunter Round and shall be numerically Judged on style, soundness, brilliance and handiness. May be asked for some simple handy hunter type tests. A maximum of 10 bonus points may be awarded by the Judges to each horse/rider combination for the handiness of the round & the brilliance of their pace. Scores from the first round will be added together with the scores of the second round to determine the placings. In case of a tie for first place only, those with tied scores will jump a third round over a shortened course to break the tie. In all other ties, the riders will toss a coin for the awards. Awards: Champion, Reserve Champion and 8 Ribbons and Sashes Prizes for more than 10 entries: Trophy for Champion and Reserve 36. CHSA HUNTER DERBY – 2’ Entry Fee: $100. Open to any horse and pony entered in Pre-‐Children’s Hunter and Medal, and CT Training Hunter 2’. Fences not to exceed 2’. The first round will be a Classic Working Hunter Style Round and numerically Judged on quality, movement, jumping style, manners and way of going. The first round will be a Classic Working Hunter Style Round and numerically Judged on quality, movement, jumping style, manners and way of going. The top 10 exhibitors from the first round will return to jump a second round in reverse order of their scores in the first round; lowest score going first and highest score going last.
