GENERAL INFORMATION, RULES AND REGULATIONS EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT <strong>CHSA</strong> or USEF (when applicable) RULE BOOK, AND WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH. NUMBERS : Specially assigned numbers for <strong>the</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> MUST be picked up from <strong>the</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> Secretary before <strong>the</strong> competition begins. <strong>The</strong> Show Secretary will be available at <strong>the</strong> High Hopes <strong>The</strong>rapeutic Riding facility on Thursday, August 25, from 3:00PM to 6:00PM. <strong>The</strong> Secretary will also be available during <strong>the</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> on Friday, August 26, Saturday, August 27, and Sunday, August 28 from 7am — 5pm. AWARDS : All classes will be pinned to 10th place. Awards will be presented upon <strong>the</strong> completion of each final round. SCRATCHES: Once entered, no horse or competitor may be withdrawn from <strong>the</strong> competition without permission of <strong>the</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> Committee. Any request to scratch must be made in writing and be accompanied by a confirmation of inability to compete from a Veterinarian or a Physician in <strong>the</strong> case of a rider's illness or injury. If approved, a full refund of class entry fees, less a $100 scratch fee will be given within 30 days after <strong>the</strong> completion of <strong>the</strong> show. CHANGE OF HORSE OR PONY: In order to change <strong>the</strong> horse or pony being ridden in an Equitation class only, <strong>the</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> Secretary must be notified at least two (2) hours before <strong>the</strong> start of <strong>the</strong> class. NON-­‐NEGOTIABLE CHECKS: Checks returned by <strong>the</strong> bank for any reason will be assessed a penalty of $100. Upon notification of a NSF (non-­‐sufficient funds) check, accounts will be given 7 days to make full payment including penalty, which must be paid in certified funds, cashier's check or money order. An account not brought current within seven days will have <strong>the</strong> entrant's <strong>CHSA</strong> Membership put on hold and no points will accumulate until <strong>the</strong> account is paid. DISQUALIFICATION: Any rider/horse going into a class for which <strong>the</strong>y have not qualified, or officially entered, will be fined $100 and disqualified from any fur<strong>the</strong>r participation in <strong>the</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong>. CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION: <strong>The</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> Committee reserves <strong>the</strong> right to itself to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to or arising out of, or incident to <strong>the</strong> show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered in <strong>the</strong>se Rules and Regulations shall be decided by <strong>the</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> Committee, its decision to be final. <strong>The</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> Committee reserves to itself <strong>the</strong> right to limit or change <strong>the</strong> number of accepted entries in any class, to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify any riders, horses or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries without any claim for damages; to change any course, to add a dotted line, to cancel any unfilled classes, or to reschedule classes, after due notice to exhibitors; to change rings or judges as <strong>the</strong> competition warrants. SAFETY: Protective Headgear is compulsory for riders in all <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> classes and when riding anywhere on <strong>the</strong> competition grounds. Adults and Juniors must wear properly fastened protective headgear that meets or exceeds ASTM standards for equestrian use and carries <strong>the</strong> SEI tag. It must be properly fitted with harness secured. See USEF GR 801.3. It is <strong>the</strong> responsibility of <strong>the</strong> rider, trainer, or parent or guardian of <strong>the</strong> junior 2011 <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> 2 Prize List


exhibitor, to see to it that <strong>the</strong> headgear worn complies with appropriate safety standards and is properly fitted and in good condition. Motorized Vehicles and Golf Carts: Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows <strong>the</strong>m to operate a motorized vehicle in <strong>the</strong> state in which <strong>the</strong>y reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on <strong>the</strong> competition grounds of recognized competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate <strong>the</strong> above described motorized vehicles as long as <strong>the</strong>y are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against <strong>the</strong> parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for <strong>the</strong> child committing <strong>the</strong> offense. Penalties my include exclusion of <strong>the</strong> child, parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) from <strong>the</strong> competition grounds for <strong>the</strong> remainder of <strong>the</strong> competition and charges being filed against any of <strong>the</strong> above individuals. Wheelchairs and o<strong>the</strong>r mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. <strong>CHSA</strong> will impose a fine of $250 to any exhibitor found in violation of <strong>the</strong> above. In addition, reckless driving of any motorized vehicle by anyone on <strong>the</strong> show grounds will be subject to a fine of $250 and expulsion from <strong>the</strong> show grounds and forfeiture of any prizes won. DOGS: All dogs must be leashed only. Dogs are not allowed in cages, pens or o<strong>the</strong>r holding containers. No o<strong>the</strong>r animals are allowed on <strong>the</strong> show grounds. TENTS: No portable tents, popup tents, umbrellas or any portable structures are allowed within 200 Feet of <strong>the</strong> show and schooling rings. CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION Every Class offered herein which is covered by <strong>the</strong> rules and specifications of <strong>the</strong> current USEF Rule Book will be conducted and judged in accordance <strong>the</strong>rewith. <strong>CHSA</strong> ENTRY AGREEMENT By entering and signing this entry blank as <strong>the</strong> Owner, Lessee, Trainer, Manager, Agent, Coach, Rider, or Handler, and on behalf of myself and my principals, representatives, employees and agents, I agree that I am subject to <strong>the</strong> By-­‐laws and Rules of <strong>CHSA</strong>. I agree to be bound by <strong>the</strong> By-­‐laws and Rules of <strong>CHSA</strong>. I will accept as final <strong>the</strong> decision of <strong>the</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> Committee on any question arising under <strong>the</strong> Rules, and agree to release and hold harmless <strong>the</strong> competition, <strong>CHSA</strong>, High Hopes <strong>The</strong>rapeutic Riding, Inc, <strong>the</strong>ir officials, directors and employees for any action taken under <strong>the</strong> Rules. I represent that I am eligible to enter and/or participate under <strong>the</strong> Rules, and every horse I am entering is eligible as entered. I also agree that as a condition of and in consideration of acceptance of entry, <strong>CHSA</strong> may use or assign photographs, videos, audios, cablecasts, or o<strong>the</strong>r likenesses of me and my horse taken during <strong>the</strong> course of <strong>the</strong> competition for <strong>the</strong> promotion, coverage or benefit of <strong>the</strong> competition, sport, or <strong>CHSA</strong>. Those likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and <strong>the</strong>y may not be used in such a way as to jeopardize Amateur status. I hereby expressly and irrevocably waive and release any rights in connection with such use, including any claim to compensation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, or to misappropriation. <strong>The</strong> construction and application of <strong>CHSA</strong> Rules are governed by <strong>the</strong> laws of <strong>the</strong> State of Connecticut, and any action instituted against <strong>CHSA</strong> must be filed in Connecticut State. <strong>The</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> Committee reserves <strong>the</strong> right to itself to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to or arising out of, or incident to <strong>the</strong> show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered in <strong>the</strong>se Rules and Regulations shall be decided by <strong>the</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> Committee; its decision to be final. Every horse entered herein for competition will be under <strong>the</strong> control of <strong>the</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> Committee and <strong>the</strong> Horse Show Management, but <strong>the</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> Committee will in no case be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold <strong>the</strong> <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> Committee, <strong>the</strong> horse show and <strong>the</strong> officials, employees, directors, officers, sponsoring entities of <strong>the</strong> horse show and <strong>the</strong> facilities at which <strong>the</strong> horse show is held blameless for any loss or accident to his horse(s), employee(s), or equipment which may occur from sickness, fire or o<strong>the</strong>r cause. Should any question or dispute arise, it shall be referred to <strong>the</strong> Show Committee whose decision shall be final. Exhibitors are notified that any discourtesy or disobedience to <strong>the</strong> judges or officials on <strong>the</strong> part of an owner, rider or groom shall disqualify <strong>the</strong> horse and <strong>the</strong> owner shall forfeit his entry and o<strong>the</strong>r fees. 2011 <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong> 4 Prize List


<strong>CHSA</strong> FINALS CLASS LISTING CLASSES WITH FEWER THAN ELEVEN (11) ENTRIES IN THE FIRST ROUND MIGHT BE RUN IN ONLY ONE ROUND AT THE DISCRETION OF THE <strong>CHSA</strong> FINALS COMMITTEE. FALL OF A HORSE/RIDER: If a horse or rider falls during <strong>the</strong> first round of a class, <strong>the</strong> horse/rider is eliminated. If <strong>the</strong> horse/rider falls during <strong>the</strong> second round of a class, <strong>the</strong>y are placed last of <strong>the</strong> horses/riders competing in that round. NO MARTINGALES PERMITTED IN ANY FLAT CLASSES. All Classes will be judged by two registered USEF judges. 201. UNJUDGED TICKETED WARM-­‐UP CLASS Entry Fee: $25. <strong>The</strong>re will be an unjudged warm-­‐up on Friday, August 26 not to start before 2:00pm. <strong>The</strong> class will be run at three heights – 18”, 2’ and 2’6”. This class is only open to <strong>CHSA</strong> members competing in <strong>the</strong> 2011 <strong>CHSA</strong> <strong>Finals</strong>. Every qualified horse rider combination who pre-­‐enters <strong>the</strong> warm-­‐up, will be able to purchase multiple warm-­‐up tickets as time and fairness permits. <strong>The</strong> warm-­‐up trips may be taken by <strong>the</strong> rider and/or <strong>the</strong>ir trainer only. You must pre-­‐enter for <strong>the</strong> warm-­‐up. <strong>The</strong>re will be no warm-­‐up post entries. 101. Schooling Class Equitation-­‐ 18” Entry Fee: $50. Open only to Exhibitors in Class 10. Judged on Short Stirrup Equitation class specifications. 10 Ribbons. 10. SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION MEDAL Entry Fee: $100. Open to riders 12 years and under as of 12/1/10 who have never competed over fences exceeding 18” in a Recognized show. Course not to exceed ten non-­‐x-­‐rails fences, not to exceed 18”, which must contain at least two tests from <strong>the</strong> current USEF Tests 1-­‐8 including sitting trot. May trot or canter. To be scored under <strong>the</strong> open numerical judging system. <strong>The</strong> top 10 riders from <strong>the</strong> first round will return to jump a second round in reverse order of <strong>the</strong>ir scores in <strong>the</strong> first round; lowest score going first and highest score going last. Scores from <strong>the</strong> first round will be added toge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong> scores of <strong>the</strong> second round to determine <strong>the</strong> placings. In case of a tie for first place only, those with tied scores will jump a third round over a shortened course to break <strong>the</strong> tie.
