Linda Argote Elected<br />
Fellow Of Association For<br />
Psychological Science<br />
Linda Argote, <strong>Carnegie</strong> Bosch Professor of Organizational Behavior<br />
and Theory, was elected a fellow of the Association for Psychological<br />
Science. Professor Argote is also editor-in-chief of the journal<br />
Organization Science and director of the Tepper School’s Center for<br />
Organizational Learning, Innovation and Performance.<br />
Denise RousseauWins<br />
Unprecedented Second<br />
Terry Book Award<br />
Denise Rousseau, H.J. II Professor of Organizational Behavior<br />
and Public Policy, received the 2006 George R.Terry Book Award for<br />
her book I-deal: Idiosyncratic Deals Workers Bargain for Themselves.<br />
Rousseau also received a Terry Book Award in 1996 for<br />
Psychological Contracts in Organizations: Understanding Written<br />
and Unwritten Agreements. Rousseau is the only person to have won<br />
two Terry awards, given by the Academy of Management for books<br />
judged to have made outstanding contributions to the advancement<br />
of management knowledge.<br />
MichaelTrick Elected A<br />
Fellow Of INFORMS<br />
Michael Trick, professor of operations research, was elected a<br />
fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management<br />
Sciences (INFORMS), the largest professional society in the world for<br />
professionals in the field of operations research. It was established in<br />
1995 with the merger of the Operations Research Society of America<br />
(ORSA) and The Institute for Management Sciences (TIMS).<br />
McGowan Scholar<br />
Second-year MBA student Colin Raney (right), a native of Texas,<br />
was named theWilliam G. McGowan Scholar for the 2006 – 2007<br />
academic year.The award is provided by theWilliam G. McGowan<br />
Charitable Fund, named afterWilliam G. McGowan, who organized<br />
MCI Communications Corp. in 1968 and helped create a competitive<br />
telecommunications market.<br />
McGowan Scholars are selected based on student essays,<br />
faculty recommendation and record of academic performance,<br />
involvement in campus and community activities, leadership<br />
abilities and character. As part of his winning essay, Raney wrote,<br />
“Like McGowan, I believe that with enough determination and<br />
leadership, anyone can be successful in life. I also believe it is<br />
essential to balance your own success with the advancement<br />
and education of others.”<br />
At Tepper, Raney has pursued independent study in marketing<br />
and product design along with his required MBA coursework. As<br />
president of the Graduate Business Association (GBA), he founded<br />
two well-received programs, GBA Impact and “Tepper Prepper.”<br />
GBA Impact encourages GBA members to identify opportunities<br />
for improvement at the business school.TheTepper Prepper<br />
program matches second-year MBA students with incoming<br />
students to assist with interviewing and networking skills, and<br />
also required Raney to work with the Dean’s office, the Career<br />
Opportunities Center, the Student Services Office and student<br />
leaders – evidence of his networking and leadership skills.<br />
TheWilliam G. McGowan Scholars Program is among many<br />
opportunities forTepper students to obtain help in paying for their<br />
education. Overall, 78 percent of Tepper MBA students receive a<br />
form of financial aid.<br />
