To the many parents and children who offered their sympathy and prayers when mum died earlier this month,
please accept my thanks. I was blest to have her in my life for so long and she will leave her strong sense of
values imprinted on the minds of many especially her children, grand-children and great grandchildren. Over
the last six months her health declined greatly and although she did not like losing her independence and her
active lifestyle, we were able to give her wish to remain at home and be cared for by her family. Although I will
miss her friendship, love and wisdom very much, she was well prepared to meet her God .
Special thanks to Jan Morice, who has stepped up so capably on many occasions to support me to allow me to
assist the family in caring for mum. I also thank the staff for their support to me and to Jan over this time.
It is a pleasure to work with such a competent and caring group of people.
Thank you, dear Lord, for the gift of motherhood. Please help us always to appreciate the importance of
being a mother. Amen
Mothers’ Day Breakfast
Mothers’ Day Breakfast was a huge success thanks to Errol De Zilwa and his fellow chef who led the
band of dads to provide a scrumptious breakfast for the mums. Providing a rose for the mums added
lovely touch to the occasion. Thanks to the mums who organised the set up and dads who gave of
their time to look after the mums and provide the breakfast for them and their children.
Special thanks to Pina Tsouparidis’s brother who kindly donated the Mothers’ Day Package which
was won by Jacqui Thomson at the Mothers’ Day Breakfast.
Paraliturgies
Parents will be invited to share in the class Paraliturgies which will be conducted throughout the year
in their classes or adjoining areas. The students and teachers plan these as part of the Unit of work
for Religious Education and would like the parents to see what is happening in Religious Education in
the various levels. The first one was on Wednesday this week and I was very touched by the
reverence and spirituality of the session which was prepared completely by the students of 5 / 6 B
under the guidance of Ms Balaskas.
Woolworths Earn & Learn 2012
We are excited to be taking part in the 2012 Woolworths Earn & Learn program. Last year,
we were able to purchase some great resources with the points we earned, thanks to you.
From Wednesday 9th May until July 1st 2012, you can collect stickers at Woolworths that go
towards Earn & Learn points. For every $10 you spend at Woolworths (excluding the
purchase of tobacco, liquor and gift cards), you will receive a sticker. These stickers can then
be given to your children to collect on a special sticker card. Once it is completed, they can
simply bring it back here to school or you can drop them into your local Woolworths
collection box at the front of the store. The more points we earn, the more we can redeem
from a choice of over 7,000 educational resources including mathematics and English
resources, art & crafts materials and much, much more! We are grateful for your support
and look forward to a successful program. If you have any questions, please ask at School.
Sticker cards will be sent home to each family and you may collect more from the office or
Woolworths when you need them. Please place filled cards in box in school office foyer.
