SHARING THE MISSION INTERFAITH UNION You Are Invited You are cordially invited to attend the Interfaith Colloquium in honor of Stephen E. Smith. Steve was a dedicated member of Old St. Pat’s who, along with his family, was instrumental in creating an interreligious dialog at Old St. Pat’s. Steve was a member of Old St. Pat’s Family Advisory Board, president of the First Friday Club, and committed countless hours to interfaith leadership through Old St. Pat’s Interfaith Union. The Interfaith Union is a resource center representing religious traditions — Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and others. Education, support, mentoring, community, and formation are provided for individuals, the clergy, and religious communities who are interested in strengthening and encouraging interreligious dialog. The program features world-renowned speakers who will focus on a critical topic of faith as well as discussing opportunities for continued interreligious dialog. We hope you will be able to join us. Islamic Scholar-in-Residence, Kazi Publications, Chicago Getting Married — An Interfaith Wedding Meeting Thursday, May 13 The Old St. Pat’s Jewish Catholic Couples Group will discuss the basic elements of a Jewish wedding ceremony and a Catholic wedding Ceremony at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 13 in the Fr. Jack Wall Mission Center, 711 W. Monroe, Chicago. This session will offer a description of common prayers, symbols, and biblical readings usually included in typical interfaith wedding ceremonies. Through the sharing of interfaith wedding experiences, the discussion will focus on possible solutions to common problems encountered in preparing Jewish Catholic wedding ceremonies. Rabbi Chava Bahle, Makom Salom, Chicago, and Father Paul Novak, President, De La Salle Insitute, Chicago, will participate in this meeting. Engaged couples, or those considering becoming engaged are invited to attend. Married couples also are encouraged to attend so they can share their wisdom and experiences.
