AUSTRALIAN CLUTCH SERVICES LEADING
THE WAY IN GREEN MANUFACTURING
Australian Clutch Services of Wingfield, South Australia
has progressively reduced its carbon footprint via various
green initiatives.
Working towards being a carbon-neutral company has been an
important component of the long-term business strategy at Australian
Clutch Services (ACS).
Some time ago ACS invested in a cardboard compacting machine,
enabling the company to more efficiently recycle cardboard waste into a
saleable commodity.
This recycling initiative is one of many at ACS including a large scale
metal recycling program and wood (pallet) recycling activities.
The most recent and largest reduction in carbon footprint was
achieved through a commercial scale solar power system.
Adelaide Company Solar Depot recently installed a 30kw commercial
grade solar power system on the roof at Australian Clutch Services.
The system delivers nearly 80 percent of the company’s power needs
during the working week.
Unused power that is generated on the weekend is sold back into the
grid further reducing the gap and almost eliminating the company's power
bills.
With plans to implement minor power use changes such as LED
floodlighting and the like, ACS looks like achieving total selfsustainability
in regards to electricity production and usage in the shortterm.
The green initiative demonstrates the constant momentum by ACS in
regards to leadership within the clutch industry.
“In today’s automotive environment, larger corporates (retail chains)
are looking to see what their suppliers are doing to move with the times
in every respect, not just supplying product but how they operate their
business,” ACS Managing Director, Brenton Jordan, said.
“We have been very efficiency focused of late, with our ISO
accreditation and so forth. This has flowed through every facet of our
business including our energy usage.”
