School Improvement Industry Visits<br />
<strong>Jubilee</strong> <strong>Insurance</strong> and the Liaison Group hosted a group<br />
of 61 Form 4 students and 3 teachers from Sacho High<br />
School to an educational tour in October <strong>2010</strong>. The<br />
visit was an exciting one for the students who listened to<br />
enthusiastic representatives from <strong>Jubilee</strong>’s various business<br />
lines discuss the operations of the insurance industry and<br />
offer guidance on career selection.<br />
Industry visits from schools and universities are encouraged<br />
by <strong>Jubilee</strong> because they offer students early exposure to<br />
the business world and encourages them to develop their<br />
career path. Other educational institutions that <strong>Jubilee</strong><br />
interacted with in <strong>2010</strong> include Kenyatta University,<br />
Graffins College and St Christopher’s High School.<br />
Community involvement initiatives<br />

members of the public in donating blood during a Blood<br />
Drive Campaign organized by the Nation Media Group<br />
as part of its Community Action Week. <strong>Jubilee</strong> managers<br />
participated in the event as part of the company’s community<br />
involvement commitment.<br />
<strong>Jubilee</strong> Tanzania also dedicated their time to community<br />
involvement projects in <strong>2010</strong>. In September, they partnered<br />
with the Tanzania Touch Forum and the Tanzania Police to<br />
educate owners of 2-wheelers on road safety and insurance.<br />
The training and awareness building event titled ‘Mafunzo<br />
ya uendeshaji salama wa pikipiki barabarani’ received<br />
excellent turnout from Dar es Salaam motorcycle owners.<br />
Standard Chartered Marathon<br />
The 15,000 marathon runners from over 20 countries who<br />
participated in the <strong>2010</strong> StanChart marathon were covered<br />
by <strong>Jubilee</strong> <strong>Insurance</strong>. In a Shs 70 million package, all runners,<br />
officials and volunteers were covered, along with the various<br />
equipments used in the marathon. <strong>Jubilee</strong> was a silver sponsor<br />
of the marathon for the 4th year running, and a team of 20 staff<br />
participated in what is the largest athletic event in Kenya.<br />
A charity fund raising event, over 750 children had their sight<br />
restored from the 2009 proceeds. The proceeds from this year’s<br />
marathon, dubbed ‘Run for Sight’, go to ‘Seeing is Believing’,<br />
and initiative to eradicate avoidable blindness in children under<br />
the age of 9 years.<br />
<strong>Jubilee</strong> regularly partners with like minded corporates for worthy<br />
social causes. The company has also consistently partnered<br />
with the Mater Hospital for the Mater Heart Run, an annual<br />
event organised to help children with cardiac problems.<br />
