ROOF WINDOW CONSTRUCTION
Fakro roof windows are high quality products manufactured from the
finest raw materials, using the most modern technology to ensure
durability, security, functionality and excellent thermal insulation.
Durability is achieved by the use of specially chosen highest
quality pine, which is bonded in layers, vacuum impregnated
and double coated. The wood is protected on the outer face
with polyester coated aluminium, which is highly weather
and UV resistant.
The use of thermally insulated gas-filled double glazed
windows, with a U-value of 1.1 W/m²K, is instrumental
in maintaining warmth in the loft. Such excellent
performance is achieved by an application of a layer
of heat-reflecting silver foil on the inside face of
the glazing. This reduces heat loss during winter
months and helps prevent overheating during
summer.
Toughened glass provides security, and is
also resistant to extremes of weather such
as hail. It is also covered by a lifetime guarantee
against hailstone damage.
The woodwork in modern buildings
tends to be tight fitting. This limits
natural ventilation and can cause
condensation. To counteract this,
Fakro windows have their own
air inlet to provide a constant
regulated supply of fresh air
even when the window is
closed. The air inlet channel
is extremely efficient
and acoustically effective.
It is located inside
the window frame
and so does not
reduce the glazed
surface area of
the window.
