This example shows that the largest returns are in retailing - mostly to large
national and international supermarket chains - with only 5% of the sale price of a
banana going to the farming family who grew it. The same is usually the case for
farm products grown and sold in the North as well.
Investigate a similar situation in the distribution of income from the production
and sale of coffee.
