CDL-B
(Dump Truck)

Beginner’s program. In this 100-hour course,
students will be given 55 hours of classroom and
45 hours of dump truck training in driving safely,
pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspection, basic
control of your vehicle, managing space and speed,
seeing hazards, emergencies, skid control and
recovery, and transporting cargo safely.
CDL-B classroom hours also include air brakes and
hazmat training. Students will participate in road
training.
Students who successfully complete the course
will receive a BOCES Certificate of Completion and
take a Road Test for the CDL-B license. Students
also receive a Certificate of Air Brakes Training.
Student must be 18 years of age to take the CDL-B
program. This program is VA approved.
Applicants must have a Driving Abstract prior to
starting the class. Once a student has applied and
secured funding, they must pass a physical and
drug test set up through BOCES.
After students complete the classroom portion of
CDL, they apply for a permit. BOCES will reimburse
the student for the permit after successful course
completion.
Applicants must pass an entrance exam to be
accepted into the program. Please call 963-4256

entrance exam.
Prerequisites: Completed application, HS/GED ®
transcripts and/or college transcripts
Application Fee: $35 non-refundable application

CDL-B
(Bus Driver)
This 100-hour course can be taken alone or as an
add on to another CDL program. You must be 21
years of age and already have a valid NYS driver’s
license.
Students will be given 55 hours of classroom, and
45 hours of bus driver training, to include driving
safely, transporting passengers safely, danger
zones, loading and unloading, emergency exit and
evacuation, railroad and highway crossings, student
management, anti-lock braking systems, special
safety considerations and pre-trip inspections.
Students will participate in road training.
Students who successfully complete the course
will receive a BOCES Certificate of Completion
and take a Road Test for the CDL-B license for bus
driver.
