CDL-B<br />

(Dump Truck)<br />

Beginner’s program. In this 100-hour course,<br />

students will be given 55 hours of classroom and<br />

45 hours of dump truck training in driving safely,<br />

pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspection, basic<br />

control of your vehicle, managing space and speed,<br />

seeing hazards, emergencies, skid control and<br />

recovery, and transporting cargo safely.<br />

CDL-B classroom hours also include air brakes and<br />

hazmat training. Students will participate in road<br />

training.<br />

Students who successfully complete the course<br />

will receive a <strong>BOCES</strong> Certificate of Completion and<br />

take a Road Test for the CDL-B license. Students<br />

also receive a Certificate of Air Brakes Training.<br />

Student must be 18 years of age to take the CDL-B<br />

program. This program is VA approved.<br />

Applicants must have a Driving Abstract prior to<br />

starting the class. Once a student has applied and<br />

secured funding, they must pass a physical and<br />

drug test set up through <strong>BOCES</strong>.<br />

After students complete the classroom portion of<br />

CDL, they apply for a permit. <strong>BOCES</strong> will reimburse<br />

the student for the permit after successful course<br />

completion.<br />

Applicants must pass an entrance exam to be<br />

accepted into the program. Please call 963-4256<br />

for information on how to apply and to schedule an<br />

entrance exam.<br />

transcripts and/or college transcripts<br />

Application Fee: $35 non-refundable application<br />

Tuition: $4,650 (includes books, physical & drug<br />

test)<br />

CDL-B<br />

(Bus Driver)<br />

This 100-hour course can be taken alone or as an<br />

add on to another CDL program. You must be 21<br />

years of age and already have a valid NYS driver’s<br />

license.<br />

Students will be given 55 hours of classroom, and<br />

45 hours of bus driver training, to include driving<br />

safely, transporting passengers safely, danger<br />

zones, loading and unloading, emergency exit and<br />

evacuation, railroad and highway crossings, student<br />

management, anti-lock braking systems, special<br />

safety considerations and pre-trip inspections.<br />

Students will participate in road training.<br />

Students who successfully complete the course<br />

will receive a <strong>BOCES</strong> Certificate of Completion<br />

and take a Road Test for the CDL-B license for bus<br />

driver.<br />
