Introduction to this resource
This resource is designed to introduce teachers and students to the MCA exhibition In the Balance: Art for a Changing World, 21 August – 31 October
2010. It provides an overview of the themes of the exhibition, and profiles seven of the exhibiting artists. In each artist’s profile, you will find quotes
from the artist, biographical information and a description of their work on exhibition at the MCA. At the end of each artist’s profile, points for
discussion and focus questions are provided under the heading Thinking About it and art making activities are suggested under the heading Making
it. A glossary and list of references are included to assist with further research; glossary terms appear in bold throughout the text and can be found at
the end of the document.
