The system is typically located in the studio, in<br />
a playout center or at the transmitter site, and<br />
allows full remote control for administration and<br />
data provision. The remote web interface featuring<br />
Fraunhofer’s in-place-editing technology<br />
for quick and convenient system configuration<br />
and monitoring can be accessed through a web<br />
browser.
<strong>IZT</strong> <strong>DAB</strong> ContentServer<br />
<strong>DAB</strong> Audio Encoder<br />
The system provides real-time audio encoding<br />
for multiple MPEG Audio Layer-2 (<strong>DAB</strong> classic),<br />
<strong>DAB</strong>+, and DMB audio streams simultaneously –<br />
including the <strong>DAB</strong> Surround option, on-demand<br />
SX Pro stereo-to-surround enhancement, and PAD<br />
data service insertion. Supported audio content<br />
formats include digital or analog live audio; mp3,<br />
wav and play list files as well as Livewire audio over<br />
IP networks. Audio level monitoring is available<br />
via web browser. Clipping and silence detection,<br />
audio amplification and mp3 normalization make<br />
for a sophisticated audio management set-up.<br />
DMB Gateway<br />
Externally encoded DMB-compliant MPEG-TS audio<br />
and video streams can be inserted into the<br />
<strong>DAB</strong> multiplex. The supported import methods<br />
comprise pre-encoded files as well as live streams<br />
via TCP/IP and UDP/IP unicast or multicast.<br />
Multimedia and Data Service<br />
Management<br />
This system component supports all standardized<br />
as well as broadcaster-specific data applications.<br />
It includes data collection, import, merging,<br />
checking, conversion, processing, and broadcast<br />
encoding.<br />
The range of standardized <strong>DAB</strong> applications includes<br />
Dynamic Labels (with UTF-8 encoding and<br />
control commands), Journaline® text information<br />
service, EPG, Slideshow and TPEG/TMC. Open<br />
interfaces enable the transmission of any customtailored<br />
and broadcaster-specific application at<br />
various protocol levels, including transparent file<br />
transmission via MOT, IP insertion, TDC, FIDC,<br />
sub-channel insertion, etc.<br />
Versatile data import interfaces and automation<br />
features allow for a smooth integration into production<br />
environments. This list of import features<br />
includes RSS import, ftp upload, ftp/http mirroring,<br />
web interface, UECP, and real-time socket interface,<br />
with optional secured data provision (ftps, https,<br />
etc.). <strong>DAB</strong> enhanced packet mode is supported.<br />
<strong>DAB</strong> Ensemble/Service Multiplex<br />
Generator<br />
The ensemble/service multiplexer component<br />
manages the extensive <strong>DAB</strong> signaling capabilities<br />
and generates the full digital <strong>DAB</strong> ensemble or<br />
service multiplex. This ETI output signal is provided<br />
via standard EDI/DCP.<br />
The supported signaling features comprise ensemble<br />
and service labels with all worldwide used<br />
characters, country and time information, alternative<br />
frequency signaling, TII and region definitions,<br />
and all announcement types.<br />
The generated output signal can be delivered<br />
to any number of <strong>DAB</strong> modulators at various<br />
transmitter sites in parallel with full SFN (single<br />
frequency network) support. The content of the<br />
output signal may be live monitored through the<br />
web interface. Recording of the ETI multiplex<br />
signal and each individual sub-channel to file is<br />
provided.<br />
An unlimited number of multiplex configurations<br />
can be defined in parallel. The automatic broadcast<br />
scheduling feature allows for manual or<br />
scheduled activation of multiplex configurations,<br />
and dynamic reconfigurations based on a global<br />
broadcast calendar and weekly schedules.<br />
To ensure safe and reliable operation, the <strong>IZT</strong> <strong>DAB</strong><br />
ContentServer TM includes sophisticated redundancy<br />
management, a professional system firewall<br />
and continuous self-monitoring. The system status<br />
is signaled through email report system, console<br />
output, web interface, relay card and SNMP.

Extends the Multimedia DataServer with <strong>DAB</strong> audio encoders.<br />
Combines audio encoding, multimedia and data service management, and DMB<br />
gateways with a <strong>DAB</strong> ensemble/service multiplex generator. The output format is<br />
a complete <strong>DAB</strong> ensemble or service multiplex signal (ETI) via standard EDI/DCP<br />
