The company
The competence centre for electromagnetic
compatibility, which was build with the support
of the German Federal State of North Rhine-
Westphalia, is operated by EMC Test NRW
GmbH as a manufacturer - independent
company. The wide range of test equipment
which is available and the know how of our
employees has made us one of the most
capable EMC service providers in Europe. EMC
Test NRW GmbH has been active since
September 1995 and provides services to its
customers in multiple working shifts. The total
number of 23 employees is at the customer’s
disposal within different areas (automotive,
industry, rail, consultancy and engineering).
The good relationship between the customers
and EMC Test NRW GmbH as well as the
flexibility during our time scheduling or testing
plays an important role for us.
Numerous customers from within Germany and
abroad already benefit from the comprehensive
service packages, which are available.
What is EMC
EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) refers to
the operational reliability of electronic products
in their intended surrounding. An electrical or
electronic apparatus, system or installation is not
allowed to submit electromagnetic disturbance
signals which interfere with function of other
electronic apparatus (reduction of emissions).
Conversely an electrical or electronic
apparatus, system or installation is not allowed
to be disturbed in function if the apparatus is
used as intended by the manufacturer (increase
of immunity). These essential requirements are
described in the European Directive on
electromagnetic compatibility 89/336/EEC, the
German EMC Act dated 18th September 1998
and the specifications of different manufacturers.

Our highly motivated team of qualified engineers
and technicians is at your service for these
matters.
We can also offer you services for scientific
questions thanks to the cooperation with specialist
faculties at the University of Dortmund.
In addition to EMC-related services, we also
cooperate with laboratories for environmental
testing, in particular for subjecting to mechanical
and climatic stresses.
Each project is individual. We always fit in with the
wishes of our customer. Normally we start with a
general analysis and afterwards we plan the further
course of our services.

The aim is the comprehensive support of our
customer. We also provide full support in
innovative questions of X-by-Wire, Bluetooth or
hydrogen fuel cells.
In addition to EMC-related services, we also
cooperate with laboratories for environ-mental
testing, in particular for subjecting to mechanical
and climatic stresses, acoustic, explosion safety
and electrical safety.

Why EMC Engineering support
The time to develop new products becomes
shorter and shorter. It is therefore important to
avoid unnecessary reviews. In the foreground
stands the functionality, the costs of the new
product and the reduced “time to market”.
Apart from this, the market demands products that
comply with EMC requirements and are thus
reliable – we support you in the solution of this
problem, so you have more time to concentrate on
your own core competence.
Our support – in short, EMC Engineering – ranges
from consultancy via active help in carrying out
optimisation work up to the completion of validation
tests.
Additionally, we also offer seminars on individual
questions concerning electromagnetic compatibility.

“Technical Service” for testing road vehicles and
components. We are thus in a position to carry out
